Light Posts Rocks

So it is another fine day in southern Cary and how else should we start other than with nice cold 5:30am exercise with 12 PAXs. Warm Up It was cold, well at least I was, so we ran from flag toward park and did two laps so we would not be too cold during warm up. Then we started with 12 Good Mornings because the Q was having trouble breathing and counting at the same time and did not know when to stop. Milk Run

33 Pax gathered to celebrate YHC’s 35th birthday… well actually, they gathered to watch what would happen when Frisco drank a half gallon of milk prior to the beatdown. Banjo joined Frisco in the lactose challenge. Surprisingly, they were able to keep it all down during the workout. Pickles and Parker got in some EC merkins and several pax got in an EC fellowship run with Half. Once the new start time of 0530 rolled around, we were off! [Read More]

Franklinaversary - 4th edition

On the last Monday in September in 2014, YHC was privileged to be an FNG at an A-Team workout. Today, YHC took the opportunity of his anniversary to repeat his inaugural F3 workout, this time as the Q, just as I did on the last Monday in September 2015, 2016 and 2017. Following the first time I participated in this workout (under the leadership of Denali), I couldn’t raise my arms above my head for 3 days and couldn’t walk properly for 6 days. [Read More]

We was a runnnnning

Monday Morning. Little bitty stingy rain. 5:30 announcement. Introduced myself, gave the disclaimer and we are off. Headed down the path to the amphitheater, and a quick HALT. Place is a flooded. Nothing like 20 seconds in and calling an audible. Turn around and head out to the main road and take alternate path to the Theater. After dodging puddles, uneven ground, and no entry signs we made our way in front of the stage. Stop #3 on The Pain Stick Express

So when Build-A-Bear messaged me on Monday to “ask” me to incorporate the pain sticks into my Q on Wednesday, of course I said yes. You’ve seen him right? So with my original workout put back on the shelf for another day, I started drawing up some new plans. Big group this morning of Insomniacs, Vesperers and SNSers. The boot campers broke off and headed toward the community center to find the afore mentioned pain sticks waiting for them. [Read More]

Wow! That's a long hill!

What’s a good way to prepare for the BRR AND enhance overall stamina and endurance at Flirtin’ With Disaster?? The hill on Cary Parkway, of course. But you can’t just run the hill, you’ve got to throw in some exercises as well. All FWD regulars are intimately familiar with this hill, and it shows up in probably 1/4 or more of the workouts, and normally stopping at designated lightposts for Merkins, or Burpees, etc. [Read More]
