Chuck Norris Turns 80

March 10, 2020 marked the 80th b-day of Chuck Norris, so being Texas Ranger, I had to celebrate. Seven other lucky PAX came along with me at AO-Claymore. Warm-up: 80 SSH single count, 8 good mornings, 8 hill billy. Done. The Beatdown: We moseyed over to the rock pile and YHC instructed the PAX to pick out a big A*S rock. You know, one that Chuck Norris would be proud of. [Read More]

A Year Goes By Fast

A little over a year ago, YHC was talking with our awesome 1st F Qs about a new Wednesday workout. Numbers were problematic across all the AOs, and I had some ideas about where might be a good place to launch. We talked about a number of options, and through those conversations I learned another PAX was interested in the same thing. To this point, I didn’t know Sour Mash very well - 99% sure that this was my fault. [Read More]

Pickle Madness

YHC had a plan - hit as many of the parking lot pickles as we could. After a brief walkthrough (and some pre-workout Pokemon GO), we were ready. FNG Check (nice save on the new PAX remembering his name from the day before) / Disclaimer / Pledge / Farewell to the Bruisers / FOLLOW ME Lap around the home pickle, out the south exit, turn back up Maury Odell, back trail to the Community Center. Run/Walk

YHC and Crimson haven’t be able to go to the same workouts very often since YHC has been running more and Crimson was recovering from some knee trouble. So, out of that, the theme for this morning was born. Some of us would run and some would walk. Turns out Smokey called an IR so that fit even better. Here is how it went down! 5:30 - no site Qs thus no flag so a quick disclaimer and we were off. [Read More]

Clay-Nado

“Hey, it’s 5:43, we should probably stop doing pull-ups and head over to the flag.” With that, 3 of the 8 total PAX we’d have for Claymore today made their way to the area where the flag sometimes rests. That is, when a site Q shows up to Claymore and has a flag. And with that, Frisco comes in hot, on 2 wheels tearing into the parking lot. With the flag. [Read More]

It’s Raining Men—Blame Parker

So a few weeks back there was a pop-up FIA/F3 AO for Valentine’s Day c/o: Red Ryder and his M. It was a pleasant surprise since the standard orders I have from Shut In (and Parker, and Red Ryder, and Smokey, and Snots, and even a few guys that aren’t married) are: “Frisco, you don’t talk to my wife, you don’t look at my wife, you don’t even breathe the same air. A Circle, 10 guys, and some toys. (no that doesn't sound right. Where is the delete key on this thing? What does this blue button do?)

EC run with Wonderbread & YHC Because I know it is loved by so many, I dusted off the home gym equipment and trucked it on over to Claymore for another round of that circle workout that still needs a really cool name. It couldn’t have worked out any better today. I had 10 stations, 10 guys and a cool new Tabata clock app on my “brand new” iPhone 7. [Read More]

Musical Monday with Hanson, Ep. 1

A few weeks back YHC was bemoaning the fact that we have an AO named Hells Bells but rarely have any music. Then I had a revelation. The Q picks the soundtrack. Also, I had been planning to Q more this year. Thus the PAX were stuck with YHC for 45 minutes this beautiful Monday morning. YHC arrived around 4:50 and hit the pull up bars while Revere and Mohawk went for a run. [Read More]

Frog Weather

Last night the forecast called for Duck Weather: 50 degrees, 100% chance of rain, and 10+ mph winds. Sadly when YHC arrived Carpex’s newest Wednesday AO, it was Frog Weather: no rain and no winds, just a bunch of puddles. Warm-Up Mosey through the shopping center to a side lot and circle up for imperial walkers, cherry pickers, Sir Fazios, copperhead squats and copperhead merkins. Then Crimson led us in the longest one count Good Morning ever. [Read More]

Curing a Case of the Mondays

YHC was reminiscing a bit with some of the PAX who were around for the launch of the AO known as Hell’s Bells. Back in the day when this site was just barely beyond a twinkle in the eyes of Earhart & Monkey Nut, there were times when the site Qs posted only to do a 2 man workout. Back in the glory days when the gates at Apex Nature Park always opened well before 0530. [Read More]
