Run FOD Run!

Apparently I’m being accused of becoming a runner as of late. With that thought, I did consider running into FOD this morning, but as it’s 4.5 each way + the workout I had planned I thought the better of it. Plus part of the route being a bit dicey (2 lane road and dark) I opted for the drive in. With my plan ready to go and with FOD being a “late start AO”, I arrived early for a solo 3/4 mile EC. Lowe's vs Sweetwaters

16 PAX, one FNG, disclaimer given privately, perfect weather and we are off. Mosey to a very unsafe place to warm up (sorry Shutty) SSH, Sir Fazios, Good Mornings, Seal Claps and Mountain Climbers Head to newly opened Lowe’s Grocery stopping at each light pole for increasing merkins starting from 1 and getting to 10 Christen the parking lot with a 4-man double pickle Indigenous People Run (IPR). During each lap, one of the 4 will remain in place doing an exercise, until all 4 have taken their turn. [Read More]

Don’t be a pressure cooker ... learn to release the ANGER so you don’t go #ao-sat-offtherails.

Date: 3/6/2021 I really did not have a theme for this workout until I had some fellowship/bruiser time with my boy Crimson. It is amazing how simple but yet powerful a question could be to help a Brother release some weight off their chest. That question is, “How is life treating you?” When a Brother is ready to unload, it is time to put on the listening ear. It’s your time to shine and comfort a Brother in their time of need. Told Y'all There'd Be Hills

Preamble Thought I never actually saw it there, I swear Build-A-Bear had put me on the Q sheet for 3/8. But there I was scheduled for 3/1. One of y’all mophos is playing some shenanigans. But you got to get up mighty early in the morning to fool Ma Bell! Play your little games. As YHC enjoyed a refreshing beverage and a cigar, I formulated a plan. A plan that involved hills. It's called Winterfell for a reason!

Super frosty & icy morning in the Far Northeast Kingdom of CARPEX! Maybe it was the cold, maybe it was the over eating attributed to the Super Bowl, maybe it was the over drinking (SB)….. not really sure but the mumble chatter was high & the mosey was slow this fine morning. Here’s how it went down according to my recollection. No FNGs, start with the pledge, mosey back along school to the back where the buses are – painted some lines than circled up for some warm-up: [Read More]

FOD Old Timers Club

You know what we did and all of you are old timers as Beaker noted in Slack. Those that didn’t attend don’t need to know the details, but here is a summary: 4 corners throughout the park. Run, chest and shoulders, run, core, run, legs, run, practice what we learned. NMS Only Beaker kept this from being 100% respect Franklin convinced me to get there early to start with FOD run club and get in a 2-mile EC before the workout. [Read More]

A-Team (6 Years Later)

The title of this backblast is a tip of the cap to Nabisco’s original backblast title “A-Team” six years ago. Just like his Q then, my Q today was flawlessly executed. 16 pax 6 years ago, 26 today (27 pax at COT having McCants join us - which is perfect as he was there 6 years ago with 75%) showed up to help YHC celebrate. I enjoy recreating this beatdown each year but with some modifications. [Read More]

It Gets Harder as it Gets Easier

As I’ve been saying for a while now, I think I got spoiled by the seemingly extended warm weather we had this year. Cause now you can really notice the cold thats here now. This was certainly the case this past Tuesday as YHC ventured out to Q Field of Dreams. Which was the last of the different Tues/Thurs workouts I had planned to Q this year! 19 Pax in total made it out to the site, though the runners were already long gone by the time the bootcamp began. Searching for Bradford's Ordinary

Yesterday YHC did some research on Bradford’s Ordinary…the town. If you’ve been around Carpex a little while you’ve probably been asked “why is it called Bradford’s Ordinary?” so I thought maybe we could take a stroll to the historic site of BO and get our learn on… Well it doesn’t exist. In the 1700s there was an Inn owned by John Bradford called Bradford’s Ordinary and so this area was just called Bradford’s Ordinary. [Read More]

VQ 5 Years Later

47 degrees in September…yes please! 21 pax left their warm cozy beds to suffer a bit in the gloom (even 1 high schooler! William “Braveheart” Wallace Marriott IV). So here is how this Beatdown was birthed…YHC VQ’d at FOD back in May of 2015. This past month I’ve been back to FOD a couple times and was excited to see the path around the baseball fields was FINALLY finished! We used to run the mess out of that loop and it got me thinking back to the early days of FOD…which got me to look up my VQ backblast…which got me to copy it for this morning and not have to think of something new!
