10-20-30-40 + Rocks

It was a beautiful morning. 47 degrees, a bit damp…a good day for F3. I just returned from NYC and was slightly unprepared… though it didn’t stop me. 23 PAX were waiting for me with my on-time arrival with a minute to spare. Banjo was not so lucky…yes, you guessed it, penalty burpies for Banjo’s “not-so” on-time arrival. The Start The Pledge We then jogged (plus side shuffles) up to DDMS in anticipation to find the rock pile along Davis Dr. [Read More]

The Princess Bride

Today the brute squad assembled early in the fields of Florin to enjoy a workout that would include Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles. However the pax wasn’t impressed and responded. “Doesn’t sound too bad. I’ll try to stay awake”, “Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming” dread pirate pivot answered back…. A quick warm-up lap around the parking lot and then circle up to meet the characters [Read More]

Liverpool Loves Dips

Feeling like the ankle is getting back to full speed, and with the Thanksgiving convergence coming up, YHC knew he needed to shake a little bootcamp beatdown rust off. There is no finer AO on a Monday morning at 0530 on Davis Drive than Wolverine, for said beatdown. Oh, but first HIM of all HIMs Build-a-Bear called a 0455 EC run and YHC felt obliged to join. Grizzly Bear Ollie was there to boot and it was a wonderful 3 mile loop. [Read More]

Breaking news, Franklin Q sets the mileage record at Gran Torino

Rumor went out early on slack that YHC was going to break a mileage record at an AO, a sentence few people would ever expect to see in writing. Some showed up this morning to see if it was true, others showed up expecting it to be a record low mileage, but oh no- YHC meant serious business. He was going to attack the 3.8 mile GT distance record. 0530 - one burpee OYO, circle up for count off (18) GM and IW - and then we were off. [Read More]

10 old-ish HIDAs & The Kid

37 degrees and sideways rain. Sounds like a great day for a Flying Circus splashdown. To add intrigue, YHC teased a mystery guest co-Q on the Slackosphere the day prior. Just at the right moment, Earhart delivers Ninjago to the site of today’s beatdown. Warmup First exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance. Then, circle up and turn it over to Ninjago for some Hillbillies, Good mornings, and get this…Ninjago calls warm up Merkins. [Read More]

The 2018 Odyssey: It’s a Journey, Not a Race

In CARPEX, we have a saying “if there’s no Back Blast then either it was a Riptide Q or it didn’t happen”. But the Odyssey did happen (I have the t-shirt to prove it) and so it must to go down into the annals of CARPEX so that someday future generations will read about it and ask themselves “What the #*@(#* were those morons thinking?!?!!” So what the #*@(#* were we thinking? Bear Crawls, Burpees and Boppits

Week two at Claymore, the best lit limited running AO in all of Carpex, and the parking lot is filling up fast. Can YHC handle a big crowd? Let’s find out. Warm-Up Mosey up the parking lot and around the island then circle up. Count off, 17 PAX. YHC is fair and kind, only 10 burpees OYO. Continue the warm-up with side straddle hops, imperial walkers, copperhead merkins, mountain climbers, copperhead squats, then pick up the other 7 burpees OYO. [Read More]

Monday- Funday!

23 HIM strong in the very moist & gloomy Wolverine – so much for the bright sunshine post time change. T-Claps for 2 FNGs coming out in the rain – nice start! We started with the pledge of allegiance at the flag. Cross Davis to the west sidewalk & head up to the middle school - started the warm up in the front, but moved to the back to avoid the garbage truck… [Read More]

No Kilts, No Problem

A brisk fall morning greeted the 13 PAX who came out to check out Carpex’s newest Tuesday morning AO. No one was sporting a kilt, and YHC detected a sense of relief from the PAX on that fact. The Joker and Repeato both were able to walk in from their Scottish Hills homes, Repeato doing so with a ruck sack on his back. Some lively chatter as everyone waited to see what YHC had in store for them. [Read More]
