Circumsack

30+ Pax found a way to get to Bond Park Senior Center today between the hours of 0430 and 0545. Some arrived that early for #TheMaynard, others a little later for #Insomnia, and picking up the 6 were those ready for a #Beatdown or a #Vesper run. For those that couldn’t make it a new(ish) F3 Lexicon word was discovered by YHC during a recent 43Feet podcast. Some guys faced certain circumstances; work, family, scheduling, issues and had to fartsack. Sometimes Vanilla is the Right Flavor

Ever since I attended my first themed workout, I knew that is the way I wanted to go when I started Q’ing. I believe it was a Hello Kitty Q themed on the college football playoffs, nothing fancy, but it was never the less, inspirational. However, a time comes in every man’s life where he has to embrace change and also that time was Sunday night where he hasn’t come up with a theme and needs to go to bed, hence my first vanilla Q. If the glove don't fit...

18 of Carpex’s finest HIMs arrived in the finally crisp fall morning hours at North Cary Park for a Doogie VQ adventure. Mumblechatter was at its finest with Burt in tow especially after I gave him free reign to speak his mind since he named me 4 months ago at Wolverine (spoiler alert). Unfortunately for Burt he needed to be reigned back in only a few minutes later… After a nice jog around the pickle we completed the following: [Read More]

The Deplorables

As a reverse psychology trick, YHC posted in the Slack “deploring” PAX who were skeered of work not to come to Flying Circus. 17 of the strongest PAX in NW Cary showed up. 17 of whom I apparently deplore. Of course I meant to “implore” the skeeredy cats not to come. But whatever. 0545 rolled around and what happened next went something like this: Warm-Up Jog around the gate and down the stairs to the high jump pad at the near end of the football field on what is the finest warmup area in all of NW Cary on a Thursday morning, followed by the worst circle up in the history of F3. Carpex Crud?

Waking up to a DM that the scheduled Q was out sick today, YHC couldn’t help but wonder if this was some kind of new site Q hazing ritual. But upon hearing that Kryptonite suffered from the same affliction, perhaps it’s possible that the Carpex Crud has returned. Better wait on that picnic for a few weeks. In any event YHC was somewhat concerned that my co-site Q would struggle coming up with a themed workout and associated props in 30 minutes, so I decided to step up and give it a go on short notice. Slow. DOWN.

Occasionally, I like to sit on my porch and tell the kids (and defecating dogs) to stay off my lawn, to complain about the weather, reminisce about walking to school, upAndy, in the snow, both ways, and to yell at the cars to SLOW DOWN. That was the genesis of this workout. And, like almost any old man story, that is completely false. I actually realized about 1/7th of the way through Ma Bells ridiculous Hindenberg workout at FOD (the OG of Tuesday Carpex AOs) that my form was becoming exceedingly sloppy and rushed. Advertising works!

YHC has been out of Carpex for the past few days exploring F3 out west in St. Louis and was really looking forward to being back home. Since there isn’t much to do outside of work when traveling YHC was advertising the upcoming beat down all week on slack. And let’s just say that the adverting brought out the numbers - 32 PAX joined my in south Carpex on this fine Friday morning. [Read More]

Team FOD

21 Pax dodged the rain and puddles to post at Field of Dreams this morning. YHC used to be a FOD regular. YHC even started the FOD Twitter handle, that’s how tight they were! Then more sites joined Tuesdays… Then a kitchen remodel relocated the family to far east borders of Cary… And just like that YHC’s regularity vanished… Franklin even sent his thugs, Nature Boy and Badlands to YHC’s house to repo his #TeamFOD shirt!
