Changing of the Guard

It was a beautiful morning at Tortoises (the premier limited-run, maximum fun workout on Wednesdays in Apex). Two Friendly New Guys (FNGs) joined the PAX in the gloom this morning: Sega (who was being punished for forgetting to do his homework) and Matador (who was being punished for being friends with Frisco). For Your Humble Correspondent (YHC) (i.e., me, Frisco the Legend), the day started with Extra Credit Pullups (ECP) with Spartan and recently named (i. [Read More]

Groundpounders

YHC rolled into Jones Park with WWW in his truck full of toys, ready to close out the Carpex-to-SW part of #QSwapWeek at Groundpounders. The parking lot filled up quickly with friendly faces, some from Carpex, some from South Wake, and before long we had a crowd too big to fit the workout we had meticulously planned. Looks like we need to modify, so we’ll modify as needed. Warm-Up WWW takes us on a lap around the pickle and circle up for good mornings, hamstring stretches, Sir Fazios forwards and backwards, air presses, seal claps, overhead claps, calf stretches with merkins, mountain climbers, and plank jacks. No Music - Plenty of Heavy Lifting

D YHC has been absent from posting due to family and travel. So it was good to get back into the swing of things with my second Q…..much appreciated Frisco…… We were 16 strong HIMS this morning. My apologies for not getting all 16 listed. There were tech difficulties with the video on my phone and I was not able to get everyone accounted for….as some may have thought YHC is not perfect [Read More]

High Tempo Hangover

I wasn’t sure what kind of attendance to expect at a high tempo 0530 workout the morning after our Carpex Christmas party. With three Gran Torino site Qs, I figured that means there should be at least four of us. Turns out an impressive group of 15 only slightly subdued PAX showed up for their post-party beat down and my first GT Q. Here’s what we did: Warm-Up Jog to back entrance of school and circle up 20 SSH, IC 20 Imperial Walkers, IC 25 Merkins 20 Mountain Climbers, IC 15 Windmills, IC Resume jog to Preston Village circle Thang 1 [Read More]

21s for Double Down

Our bros in Louisville put a call out to the Nation this week. To post on Tuesday, wear black, and get a pax picture holding up Ace of Spades to show support for Double Down, who is starting his fight against cancer. For me, it’s cool to see his name is Double Down, which we probably all know is a betting strategy in Blackjack. Cancer can be a game of blackjack sometimes. [Read More]

Miles for Merkins

YHC was excited about Gran Torino since it was announced. Not being a hi-tempo kinda guy, posting at this new hi-tempo workout presents a challenge, the kind of challenge YHC seeks. But leading the workout? That’s enough to make even a grizzled veteran a little anxious. The PAX are expecting a proper and thorough beatdown, so at 05:30 (by the QIC’s watch) we’re off. Warm-Up A quick pledge at the flag, and mosey safely across the street to the tennis park parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, and the Disco Special, 10 burpees OYO.
