Papa Smurf

Surprisingly brisk mid-April conditions at North Cary Park this morning, so chilly even Ma Bell was wearing sleeves. Warm-Up Mosey around The Pickle back to the flag and circle up for control freak Good Mornings, imperial walkers, burpees, copperhead merkins and squats. The Thang Mosey down to the shelter for 11’s (since Callahan says 7’s aren’t a thing), left-right step-ups in the shelter, hand release merkins at the flag. Partner up, one partner runs The Pickle, one partner does irkins, dips and derkins. [Read More]

Cougar Town, 30-40 make 70's

The idea for this Q came from my curiosity on whether there is actually a definition of being a cougar. Reliable, first-page Google hits assure that there is, indeed. The possibility of being a cougar begins at 40 years old, with a typical 10 year gap, thus making the average cub a barely-escaped hate at 30 (coincidentally also YHC’s age). Less than 2% of US relationships meet this definition, so if you, gentle reader, are one of them, you are one of the few, the proud, the cradle-graved. [Read More]

All creatures, great and small

So…recently trying to get back in the swing of things, Piranha Park has become a new favorite. I’ve still not had a single drop of Vicious Fishes brews, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Piranha Joe’s offerings. This has become a “go for the 1st F so I can enjoy the 2nd and 3rd F” workouts. The call went out from Peeping Tom on Thursday afternoon…and it sat there for just a little bit before YHC picked it up. [Read More]

SLT Meeting: 4/6/21

It was Tuesday, April 6 in the year two thousand and twenty one at 0530. YHC peeled into the parking lot at the Bojangles on 64 next to the Toyota dealership. I was almost late. Rounding the corner, most of my peers were still outside getting ready to breach the doors of the restaurant. I knew a handful would get in line to grab coffee and a biscuit while the rest of the gentlemen waited until after our meeting. [Read More]

Clock n' Bells, In Cadence

Beautiful 50-ish degree Monday morning for Hell’s Bells and celebrating YHC’s 4th year in F3. Disco Duck is there early and helps get the bells out because we’re going to need them. Eleven men ready to go, including Crimson, sans-driver. We circle up… no, wait, let’s say the pledge first. Now circle up for our warm-up, everything in 4-count cadence: 5 Good Mornings 10 Sir Fazios 10 Fazio Sirs 10 Imperial Walkers 10 Cherry Pickers 10 Standard Merkins Thang 1: Count off into 4 groups. ABC, Easy as 1-2-3, Simple as Do-Re-Mi

With expectations high for a sophomore Q and accompanying backblast, I opted for a simple schoolhouse theme in honor of the Hot for Teacher AO. A lovely, moonbright, 40-degree morning for a workout. Again, lots of ECers and although I was not one of them, I did show up a bit earlier to check off the Carpex Core Challenge, courtesy of Prodigal. Warmup Trick mosey, then: Side-straddle hop IC 15-count. Imperial walkers IC 15-count. [Read More]

Nothing Special

After a February full of cold and rain, March comes in like a lamb with beautiful weather in the 60s. Warm-Up Mosey up the hill towards Laurel Park Elementary and circle up in the parking lot for good mornings, imperial walkers, Sir Fazios forwards, copperhead merkins, copperhead squats, arm twirlies in reverse. The Thang The back of the parking lot has a straightaway that’s just perfect for 10-10 sprints. 10 monkey humpers, 10 dry docks, run to the first light pole and back. [Read More]

Record 16 Pax

The night was looking to be a very glorious time for a beatdown! Many other pax thought so too as 16 HIMs in all descended upon Ragnarok to tackle the evening gloom, which we were all pretty sure set a new record for the site! When the clock hit 8pm YHC gave, and slighty bumbled my way through the disclaimer and mission of F3 (It was one of a few times I realized I was a little rusty). [Read More]

Double Nickles Pickles

Sixteen HIMs showed up at Danger Zone to help YHC celebrate his 55th trip around the sun. A glorious morning, with the temp at 47° according to the Disco Duck-mobile. EC runners come rolling in and after some light mumble chatter it’s time to get started. Warm Up Windmills x 11 IC SSH x 11 IC Sir Fazio/Fazio Sir x 11 each IC Hillbillies x 11 IC Standard Merkins x 11 OMD (shout out to Saban for the reminder of “starting position, move” Thang 1: P-I-C-K-L-E-S At each end of the pickle, do the following, repeating the previous exercises each time: [Read More]

Clockwork VQ at the Wild Wild West

My first post was at Lion’s Den on a Wednesday the week before Thanksgiving 2020, so I’ve been at F3 for a little over 3 months…and with 3 Q school sessions under my belt (shout-outs to Ma Bell, Disco Duck, and Red Ryder), I guess it was about time I tried my hand at Qing. Arrival and warmup When your Nantan pre-blasts a VQ, I guess 19 guys (and 1 canine) show up to set a new site record, even on a 33-degree Monday morning with chance of rain. [Read More]
