Change is good

With our boy @callahan on the DL, we needed to ensure #ec-insomnia soldiered on. So, with a few quick keystrokes Tuesday night, YHC devised a new route I don’t think we’ve taken before; all the hills of the south side of Castalia. PAX of 9 for the run, 2 for the stationary effort, and off we go. Bye Large, Shawn D. Clair, and Denali…the rest of us settled in for a nice low-mid 8s pace, regrouping as needed (8:24, 8:16, 8:35, 8:24 mile splits). [Read More]

After the rain, the Turks come out

Long time participant, second time Q, first time back-blaster (yeah, I know). Twas the night before Wolverine and all through the house, not a creature was stirring but the roof might have come off from that ridiculous Summer storm in Spring. YHC had a plan at 4pm that involved the soccer field Mother Nature to YHC: Ha ha ha ha ha…. 9:15 Sunday night (wind whipping, lightning everywhere…) YHC to M: I’m headed to bed, gotta Q in the morning. Anniversary Kegger

April 10, 2018 It’s been one year since YHC first tasted the Gloom at FWD in April 2017, and YHC felt a little celebration was in order. But how best to mark the occasion with a touch of class and sophistication? Would the PAX prefer a tasteful platter of dry-roasted, unsalted, Whole-30-reminiscent almonds? Or mayhaps a pre-breakfast kegger? After unsuccessfully /polling the PAX on Slack (better watch your back @Slackbot) and then successfully polling the PAX on GroupMe (long may it reign), kegs beat almonds and YHC knows that the first rule of partying it to give the people what they want. Dos Toros

Saturday is coming up fast and no one has claimed the Phoenix Q. YHC checks with the co-site Q to see if it’s really available, it is, and we decide to co-Q. Disco Duck takes the first half, Texas Ranger takes the second. Here we go. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, Sir Fazios, plank jacks and mountain climbers. The Thang [Read More]

Hell in the Cell

Friday the 13th and with Wrestlemania in our rear-view mirror and Nature Boy on site with an FNG ta boot, it’s time to get the boys some time in the newly structured cells at Dante’s Peak. 25…oh wait… here comes Sky Blue… 26 for a Friday beat down. Warm-up: Mosey from the flag to the circle Good mornings x6 13 Penalty Burpees for SB showing up late Good morning x7 SSH (Nature Boy style) x 13 Merkins x13 Mountian Climbers x13 Mosey to one of the big fields, not encased by a YUGE fence, thus “The Cell” Thang 1: [Read More]

Hills, Benches and Rocks - Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

After a week of vacation in the mountains YHC was anxious to jump back into F3 this week! Since I was a bit out of shape from too much beer and pizza I invited (guilted) Crimson into co-Q’ing with me this fine Monday. Last night as we were planning our co-Q my M gave me some funny looks as we discussed “Dora” and “Mary” but I digress. A cool, crisp “spring” morning greeted 12 PAX at Apex Community Park. Deck of Danger...Zone, That Is

A PAX could be forgiven for thinking I was phoning in a second Q in as many days by bringing the US Playing Card Company Red Bicycle deck with me to Danger Zone this AM, but I planned several surprises to make this more than a mere deck of death. Its another variation on the Hamburger Helper theme of easy to run workouts. But don’t worry, all is forgiven Shut-In. Also, it’s not the first time someone has suggested I might not be able to adequately Q two workouts in a row (see “Don’t Sandbag Me Bro” to see how that went). Lamp Posts and Pickle Pounders

The day had come: YHC’s F3-aversary – 365 days since stumbling out into the gloom at SNS and earning a new appreciation of the nuances of Bond Park. To commemorate, YHC chose to Q at BO in downtown Cary. BO has become a favorite because of the variety of options it presents and how no two workouts seem to be the same. Making sure that today would be no different, we prepare to head out into the lamp post-lit gloom. [Read More]

My name is Nature Boy - I only Q every 14 months so plan on me again for end of May 2019. Consequently I don't know how to post backblasts and I think other people should do it for me.

F3 Nature Boy Qing 3 April 2018 Tuesday This Fine Tuesday morning started hellos all around. Kilmer showed for NB Q 2.5. Nature Boy 1 as we all remember found us running around the baseball Fields at Thomas Brooks park and my Fine friend Kilmer headed home early not being in the running mood. I guess 😎😜. With Highlighter running to his car to grab a weight vest so Beanner not be the solo rucker we pledged to two flags. [Read More]

Good Friday at DP with Power of 3

A great morning for a special Good Friday workout at Dante’s! After some early morning recon (the soccer fields are OPEN) and some EC with Disco Duck, we gather around the flag for a pledge and then a mosey up the hill to the right. YHC mixed in butt kickers, high knees, backwards runs, and even some bear crawling. We make it to the basketball court and circle up for: [Read More]
