Galahad

Beautiful evening in downtown Cary, not too hot, not too humid, let’s get after it. YHC has the Q, but Crimson is ready to jump in and co-Q with me. Warm-Up Mosey around to the parking lot next to the train tracks and circle up for imperial walkers, cotton pickers and standard merkins (on my down AND my up). The Thang Mosey around to the bottom level of the parking deck. [Read More]

Limited Run Does Not Mean Limited Merkins

Fresh off my first merlot induction at BO, YHC accepted the challenge to deliver a tough workout at the great AO, Tortoises. With little buzz and marketing, 20 other HIM wanted to see as well. Or maybe it was the EC Pull-Ups. Yeah, probably the ECPs. Also, there were another 5 who joined in for the traveling IR Bruisers AO for a total of 26. Add in the 3 young men shooting ball, and the place was poppin’! [Read More]

The BEST Stretch

Pre-Blast 23 HIM converged at FMJ for some work. 9 for IR Bruisers. Burbeez are the BEST stretch. The Warmup Pledge of Allegiance at the flag Mixed run around the school, paint the lines. Circle up for: 50 Burbeez. Run to Hill #1, discover the Pain Stix. The Thang****s 7s on the hill - Worst Burbee Evers at the top (a Burbee with a Pain Stick Military Press) and Pain Stick V-Ups at the bottom. [Read More]

Hello Deer

YHC showed up to Apex Nature Park early for some EC pull-ups. A little too early, because the gate at the Hell’s Bell entrance to the park was not yet opened. So I parked in the other lot and made my way across the park, kettle bell in hand. As I approached the pull-up bars I noticed three deer, looked like a doe and a couple of fawns. We stared at each other for a moment, then they ran off. [Read More]

Cherry on Top

YHC has driven past North Cary Park many times on the way to various destinations. However, this is the first post. Luckily Google maps gives some very detailed satellite photos of what is rumored to be the premiere site in Cary on Fridays. There is cluster-Q potential with this one, after YHC sees the collection of HIMs who have decided to post. Nineteen, in all. Warm Up Standard fare of SSHs, Cotton Pickers, Sir Fazio, BURPEES, Plank Jacks, and Merkins (and my down AND my UP). [Read More]

Extreme Couponing

Following a night of unstable air and thunderstorms, 20 PAX descended upon Tortoises in the humid gloom for a 45 minutes of getting to know your coupon better. Allegiance was pledged, and we circled up. Warm Up Standard fare of SSHs, Cotton Pickers, Sir Fazio, Plank Jacks, Merkins on my down AND up. 10 burpees OYO to get the PAX attention. Thang 1 Lunge walk to the coupon pile. PAX take either a block or 2 cores each. [Read More]

I'm Sorry You Feel That Way

94 degrees at game time. True HIMs battle through, and so after pledging allegiance 9 math-letes braved the streets of downtown Cary for a number-themed extravaganza. Mosey to the circle for… Warmup SSHs, Sir Fazio, Cotton Pickers, Imperial Walkers, Plank Jacks, Merkins on my down AND up, and a few burpees cause I hear it’s a good stretch. Thang 1 Double Nickel down the street. Alternating 5 Monkey Humpers at one light pole, 5 burpees at the next. [Read More]

McCants Tribute

YHC told the PAX last night that today’s workout would be a tribute to our brother McCants, who is down in Wilmington recovering from a fall this weekend. Some thought that meant a Murph, but no, it just meant we were all going to give it 110%. Warm-Up Mosey over to the front of the school and circle up for side straddle hops, imperial walkers and cotton pickers. The Thang [Read More]

The Calm Before The Storm

I honestly couldn’t think of a title for today’s workout, and Disco Duck said this while we were warming up w/o kettlebells, so I thought, why not. There’s nothing like throwing around heavy pieces of steel at 5:30 in the morning, so let’s get started. We circled up for a little warm up, both with and without our kettlebells. Warm Up w/o KB Good Morning, Windmill, Imperial Walker, SSH, Arm Circles & Claps [Read More]

Triple-Header

First off, YHC is grateful for being introduced to F3 by my man Flacco and to being so warmly received by each & every Carpex HIM I’ve encountered. I sure am enjoying my F1’s & actually look forward to collecting in the gloom & getting the sweat flowing with this fine group. I’ve been able to participate in a couple F2 & F3 events as well & will be active here – Someone said F3 is kind of like a cult, but I disagree – this is a high-quality fraternity with only the good attributes: make each other better (HIMs) via challenge & encouragement, serve to improve the communities we live in, & have some damn fun along the way.
