Just an Ordinary morning in the gloom

I won’t wax poetic as I am submitting this BB 3 weeks after the workout. Why? Because backblasts are important from a historical perspective. That being said … lets go! Some people showed up though no FNGs. A disclaimer was given. The Pledge was recited. Mozy to the Bank circle for Warm Ups Good morning SSH Sir Fazio Over head claps Seal claps Stretches Mozy to Train Station for Thang 1: Partner Fat Dora / Pickle [Read More]

12 reflections on 1 year with F3 Carpex

Several Pax have asked what I’ve learned over this past year, and several more have asked how much weight I’ve lost. YHC thought a blog post was in order, and considered alternatively entitling this, How to become a HIM of the month before your first-year anniversary, but we all know that’s just a teacher’s pet game, sooo… (Just kidding, it was actually a very pleasant surprise & honor. Besides, we know that can’t be true because Suck UP hasn’t been named HOTM yet. [Read More]

It's All in the Numbers

Today I celebrate 56 trips around the sun. I was thinking about how some numbers have corresponded to important times in my life. For example, I was born in ‘65 and today I am 56; my high school jersey number was 39, and I moved to Raleigh in ‘93; I graduated from college in ‘89 and my daughters were born in ‘98; I was married in ‘96 and …. well, all the numbers don’t work. Thou Shalt Not Cadence Count...

Today is my birthday. I turned 55. The rules say I have to Q and we have to do Triple Nickels, presumably because we don’t have Double Nickels so here we are. I do not make the rules. I am bound by precedent. A small brightly lit mob of EC runners joined a comfortable number of PAX who happened to wander in to Slippery When Wet. After a brief introduction and the Pledge of Allegiance we were off… [Read More]

B!tch Hands

Nine PAX got to hear Disco Duck ask if he needed gloves, and subsequently named this backblast. Warm Up Mosey to the top of the old parking deck. Run around a bit, even backwards. Circle up for SSHs, Sir Fazio arm circles, Steve Earles, Grundle stretch, calf stretch, hip stretch, and 25 merkins. The Thang Mosey back down the stairs, and over to the center fountain the the middle of the municipal buildings. [Read More]

OG Bootcamp

With all the training for the BRR, I need more bootcamp in my life. The pythons are looking a little sickly (not in the good millenial phrasing way) and I may be a little loose in the cage. This week has been all about more balanced workout - and less miles. So when the chance to Q arguably the greatest AO location in all of Carpex popped up, I jumped all over it and decided to deliver an OG style bootcamp. [Read More]

5 Years of F3 Sn2Fe Style

As many eye rolls and sighs of exasperation YHC received last night for, arguably, emphasizing the “DA” in HIDA with this Q, it was gonna happen. Not to get all sappy with y’all but there is very little I can say I have been doing - and loving - for five years and running. Yes, the 1st brings us out but truly it is the 2nd that keeps us coming … and growing … and building off each other. [Read More]

Balls, Balls, Balls, and Towels

The Back Story Now that I have my first Q under my belt and celebrated my birthday taboot, it was time to commemorate three years of me being a part of this great thing we call Carpex. Three years ago, Sosa’s diligence in EH’ing me for months (seriously) finally paid off and I showed up to Thomas Brooks Park for my first post. Red Ryder was the Q that day at Field of Dreams. Schwetty

There was a disturbing abundance of sleeves at the skate park this morning. Warm-Up Mosey over to the Town of Apex parking lot and circle up for hillbillies, daisy pickers, arm circles, copperhead merkins, copperhead squats and burpees (one for each untanked pax). The Thang Mosey over to parking lot behind the building with the stairs on the sides. 5 hand release merkins, 5 squats, 5 LBCs and trip up and down the stairs. [Read More]

Who's Your Uncle?

The Back Story After fifteen hours of rain from Tropical Storm Elsa, the skies parted and left a beautiful Carpex just ready for something special – YHC’s first Q. And what an auspicious occasion it was! I knew I took a long time to finally get to this place and there were a lot of guys that encouraged, pushed, and flat-out razzed me to get here. Thank you all for that. [Read More]
