Slippery When Wet 4/27/18 -- The 2000's

12 PAX braved the weather for a 2000’s beat-down. Shakira, Lady Gaga, and Beyonce joined us on the trek though they were not favored by the PAX present. Nonetheless, YHC truly enjoys workouts better when the tunes are humming! Thing 1 Partner up, 3 rounds of one partner either People’s Chair or Balls to the Wall the other partner bear crawls to 1st base, lunge to 2nd base, bear crawl to 3rd base, lunge home. [Read More]

Shakin' not Stirred 4/25/18 Day 3 -- The '80's

The week of Smokey continues with the music of the ‘80’s. Joining us in the gloom were artists like Kenny Logins, Def Leppard, and Bon Jovi to name a few. 36 PAX were there for Vesper and SnS. 28 actually got to listen to the music. We began with a quick run around the parking lot to warm up in front of the senior center. Warm Up SSH Imperial Walkers [Read More]

MENSA Q

Here’s some maths knowledge for y’all - and why on Earth we would do anything as stupid (completely, utterly…?) as incorporate a Fibonacci sequence into a workout. For those of you who have been at this awhile, you may have experienced the Nautilus, a workout that starts at the center of something and spirals outward. A nautilus is a natural embodiment of the Golden Ratio, a mathematical expression that refers to the ratio of two addends to their sum and each other. Apparently a cadence count over 4 confuses people.

Some might say it was this PAX’s Kryptonite. (see what I did there?) Warm Up Windmill, Imperial Walker, Steve Earle, SSH Thang 1 Circled up in a nice patch of grass for Absolution. This is an 8 count cadence. Starting in plank position to a groiner, down to chill cut, plank jack, then back up. Trying to keep the PAX together on this one seemed to be a challenge. Not to mention no one was counting except me, so I’m not even sure how many we did. [Read More]

Change is good

With our boy @callahan on the DL, we needed to ensure #ec-insomnia soldiered on. So, with a few quick keystrokes Tuesday night, YHC devised a new route I don’t think we’ve taken before; all the hills of the south side of Castalia. PAX of 9 for the run, 2 for the stationary effort, and off we go. Bye Large, Shawn D. Clair, and Denali…the rest of us settled in for a nice low-mid 8s pace, regrouping as needed (8:24, 8:16, 8:35, 8:24 mile splits). [Read More]

Estate Double 7s

Thang 2 Partner up for 7s up the back hill by the lit-up house. Partner clap merkins and bropees. [Read More]

CamoKoozie!

DOW: 4/3/18 QIC: Flip Flop PAX: can’t remember, but there were either 11 or 13. Yeah I forgot to write the BB, but @shutincarpex so kindly reminded me. So here’t is…as best I remember. I literally had never been to FMJ. The M works out on Tuesdays, so I stay at home and get my girls ready for the day, which is usually not quite up to the wife’s standards. You know, wake up late, girls in mis-matching clothing, shoes on wrong feet, toothpaste in unbrushed hair…. A Pierogi Confession

To whit: I had not, to date, really tried to deliver a good ol’, shut yo’ mouth F3 beatdown so when the SNS Twitter handle kindly reminded YHC of the Q the next day, that’s what I vowed to try and do. Raccoon sighting

Friday, April 6th No we really didn’t see any raccoons but you are now reading the back blast, so that is a positive. While arriving last Friday I was greeted by an extremely chipper PAX. I think his name was Bayonne, so that is a problem. Although, another PAX that was less energetic was actually named “Chipper”, also present, so that washes itself out. I asked Earhart how many kettlebells he had in his car the night before and it was actually half of what he mentioned. [Read More]

WHAT ARE WE DOING

Thursday Morning. Showed up early to setup the Ciabatta (more to come on that) stations and scope out the site. PAX are assembling around the flag as the Raleigh Clown Car pulls in. Yoda flung open the door and you could tell he was already in High MC Gear. Quick announcement from the Q and we are off. Warm-Up Fellowship pace jog around the track. Buttkickers, High Knees, Side Shuffles included. [Read More]
