You NEED me to tell that joke!

A large crowd gathered in the drizzly gloom. It was as if God was crying over the tragic death of our F3 Lexington brother, Cheech. At 0545, we gathered around the shovel flag and bowed our heads for a moment of silent prayer in his remembrance. Then - as I’m sure Cheech would have wanted - off we went. To the back, past Cheddar Bo shed, around the cul-de-sac, and back toward the shovel flag to the opening in the fence to the football fields. [Read More]

Sooey's Birthday Party

29 PAX from Carpex and South Wake joined me to celebrate my birthday at Bounty Hunters! This was my first Q and I’ve been thinking about how to deliver a solid showing for my 38th birthday. We welcomed one FNG (Parker) and provided him with the standard disclosures. After giving my 1 minute warning we were off at 5:45 sharp, or so I thought! We had a visit from the Apex PD that got us off to a slow start. [Read More]

Swimming laps

YHC had it all planned out. Looked months in advance (well, maybe weeks) to find THE Monday that would mark my 2nd F3versary. Hotspot’s big suicide was my first introduction to an F3 workout. It didn’t kill me, but it was pretty close. Then, I realized, oh crud I have a weeklong project at work that starts THE SAME DAY that I had signed up to Q. Frantic, hurried inquiries with Hotspot and McCants to see if we could swap up the order. [Read More]

New Hampshire Sunrise

23 Pax for Shaken Not Stirred,4 Pax for Vesper, 5 Pax for Insomnia Q - Hermes, YHC Insomnia ran about 4.5 miles or so, I really don’t know exactly. I have no idea how far Vesper ran, but they did swing by New Hampshire and they were late for COT, I assume they covered at least 6.5 miles in the 46 minutes. SNS: Run down to trail to parking lot, circle up for some typical warm up: SSH, Sir Farzios, Hillbillies, Good Mornings [Read More]

Lulu's VQ & 8 months of gloom

Looking back on 8 months of the gloom, since my first post at SNS, I can’t imagine life BF3 (before F3). I remember feeling the hook and leaving Bond Park that morning wanting more. Needless to say, F3 and the PAX have since become more than an early morning workout for me. F3 is brotherhood, accountability, mental and physical exercise, discipline, growth and now (thanks to Shut-In’s not so optional invitation to Q) practice in leadership. [Read More]

Mutual Birthday Q - Can you smell what the ROCK is cookin'

Eagerly anticipating my VQ, I awoke at 4am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Birthday VQ, co-Q with Ma Bell, our illustrious Nan Tan. Rolled in to Bond Park about 15 minutes early to setup cones for the workout in the parking lot; realizing I could just of used the parking lots lines instead. Live and learn. Already waiting for mumblechatter regarding what the cones were for. Got my rocks set up and placed a record sized Weinke under said rocks. [Read More]

Sometimes you have to get a little dirty...

…at Dante’s Peak. After stepping outside about 5:15 a.m. this morning, YHC realized that he lucked out with good temps and dry conditions for his VQ day. However, it turned out that it wouldn’t stop the PAX from needing that towel in the trunk for their drive home. 23 PAX were ready to roll this morning - no FNGs and everyone on time, so we were off. Warm-up Quick jog to the basketball courts, by way of the hill. [Read More]

The Best Cure for Three Days Travelling...

…is absolutely not 100 lbs. of blueberries. It’s that little smile that creeps unbidden to your face when you realize that you have the Q the following morning and can unleash the pent up fury and frustration of three days of - driving, lines, bad eating, a flat pillow, and a 2-year-old that more closely resembles the Banshee from Darby O’Gill and the Little People than the adorable baby you once knew - on an unsuspecting PAX. I heard you like burpees.

20 PAX gathered in the unGloom this fine morning. 19 stayed for the disclaimer. 18 stayed for COT. All got better. YHC had been traveling this past week, missing the PAX after a Monday post at A-Team, then a series of DIY adventures. Time to get back to business. Lucky me, I had time to scout and ponder with PBX before the workout today. Time under a log is always good for introspection. [Read More]
