Over Hill and Dale in Downtown Cary

So a few weeks ago I was complaining giving constructive criticism about an Indian Run we were in the middle of when Term Paper said, “Guess what, VQ week is right around the corner and you can plan an even better workout.” Dazed and confused, YHC finds himself in the gloom, in front of FUMC, Q’ing the Bradford’s Ordinary. A huge THANK YOU for the yoga mats that appeared! At long last, my wail of anguish has been answered and I have a place to lay my weary countenance! [Read More]

Q-Drenaline

YHC was super pumped up with Q-Drenaline for his VQ. So pumped up that he initially got into the car this AM without his running shoes. So pumped up that he drew up a 2-sided weinke in 4-point font that was entirely unreadable in the early gloom. So pumped up that he was nearly made late for his own VQ while waiting for “Gonna Fly Now” from the Rocky Soundtrack to download, so that YHC could get into the proper mental/emotional state on the drive to FWD. 360

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lldD6SVbBQc Yep, just got back from Colorado, as my team qualified to compete in the USA Ultimate Frisbee National Championships. My team hadn’t lost a game since 2014; an unparalleled feat, which resulted in two world championships and one national championship. So when we lost in the quarterfinals by one point, we were certainly disappointed. We ended up 5th in the nation, so not too shabby, but we already were planning our return to greatness, which is exactly 360 days from today. [Read More]

A Bridge Too Far

I arrive at AO I normally don’t visit that often (I tend to go to FOD) but I do enjoy this site and the options it brings. 22 PAX show-up on time ready for another beat down. Welcome FNG Kyrie! Q starts by getting the guys to grab some curb and do a round of quick feet, a good way to warm up before the warm up. We head out running slowly around the corner for: [Read More]

4-40-4

Originally planned this workout for my July 4th Q at FOD until that got hijacked. Thus the 4 theme. Fortoenately, this weeks BO Q became available at the last minute due to an unfortoenate event. Anyways, 14 men showed up for this week’s BO Q. No FNGs, no Burt, 5 respects and 3 hates. WARM UP Jog down to the fountain and circle up 20 SSH, 10 GMs, 15 PJs, 10 mountain climbers Jog to the lower field at Cary Elementary THANG x 4 [Read More]

The CarPEX Declaration Celebration

In honor of this Carpex’ declaration of independence this year from F3 Raleigh, we hijacked the nation’s birthday…no this was about America. And Independence. And Revolution. And Democracy. And Old Glory. And rockets red glare. And Freedom. And moon shots. And heroes. And Bald Eagles. And the Greatest Got Dang country in the world! And it all started in 1776. So 35 of Carpex’ and 2 of F3 Raleigh’s finest did this. [Read More]

OH NO FOUR-OH

15 men descended on BO for YHC’s 2nd Q of the week, no music this week, but a good selection of sleeveless tops kindly offered round to PAX…..as 5:45 rolled around Burt made a short announcement about F3 Cheech before we set off. Warm Up: Warm up run, via a scenic route (long way round) to the Fidelity circle…for 4 x SSH; 0 x Merkins, followed by a variable numbers of good mornings; cotton picker; mountain climber; plankjacks intended to add up to multiple of 40’s…. Animal Kingdom

13 PAX circled up on a perfect morning. Sun was shining, shovelflag was planted, and the PAX were ready. (disclaimer: this workout happened 7 days ago. My memory is very rusty, so what follows is probably only about 70% accurate) WARM UP Jog over to Booty Sea for Good Mornings, SSH, Merkins, Imperial Walkers, then jog to the Taipai 101 lot for… THE THANG Two groups, one bear crawls to the end of the lot, second group squat hold. BO's Young Guns Exploring the Fountain

An unlucky 13 of F3 Carpex’s (mostly) young bucks today in downtown Cary. A lot of young guys out at BO today. Millennials must be responding to Riptide’s Snapagrams or Instachats or whatever he’s doing to promote the AO. YHC had been eyeing the new Downtown Cary Park and fountain as a workout spot for a while and it didn’t disappoint. First, ran to the library plaza for a standard F3 Carpex warmup. [Read More]

Might need a disclaimer before the backwards Billy Run....

So this was my 3rd F3 workout in 24 hrs and I was feeling a little tired but looking forward to Qing probably my favorite workout location. There are so many options and there is even a parking deck! WARM UP: SSH, Good Morning, Imperial Walkers, Plank Jacks, and Merkins. We added some high knees, butt kicks, and Frankenstein walks on the way to the Page Walker House. DORA 123: Partner up and then 100/200/300 – Box Jumps/Australian Pullups/LBCs while the other partner takes a lap around the parking lot. [Read More]
