#F3MentalBattle

37 shakers and vesperers came in to the gloom on special day across F3 Nation, a day where we set aside some time during COT to talk about mental health. But first we have to squeeze 45 minutes of pain into 35 minutes. To help us out, and to illustrate a point, we’re taking one of the Rolling Stone coupons with us, a solid, sturdy log, large and heavy enough that it requires two PAX to carry it. [Read More]

Windchill Warrioring

Advice about being out in the cold from the Boy Scouts: layer up. Advice about being out in the cold from “To Build a Fire”: keep moving (and learn to build a fire) Advice about being out in the cold from Costco: Little Hotties are $30 for a box of 40. Advice about being out in the cold from my wife last night: “You’re an idiot” The PAX at A-Team this morning I think agreed with all of the above. [Read More]

WE READY

AO: Slippery When Wet QIC: Staubach It was an honor to do my VQ with this great group of men. I am very appreciative for F3 and all that is has done for me in my life. Thanks to @bluewater for getting me out there last June. Here is my VQ backblast: It was pretty nice, about 40 degrees and a little damp. My nerves were high as I headed out for my VQ. [Read More]

Choices

11 PAX braved the balmy drizzle to gather ‘round the flag at Harold D. Ritter Park. 1st exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance. As Coxswain was the last HIM to arrive, he got the honor of choosing one of two envelopes. Inside each envelope was a workout. Choose wisely. Warmup SSHs, then mosey to the big ‘ol parking lot off across Centergreen. Circle up again for Good Mornings, Sir Fazio, Burpees, Seal Claps, and Cotton Pickers. [Read More]

The Making of A Champion

The idea for this workout just fell into my lap. On Tuesday, there was some debate on Slack about what it takes to be a champion. Some would posit that showing up and staying makes you a champion. YHC would posit that deciding to get up at butt crack of dawn to attend a workout and sticking around is laudable, but is just a prerequisite to becoming a champion. Since YHC is the QIC, YHC gets to decide what constitutes a champion. [Read More]

Shortest backblast Top 10

The numbers were low, yet very vocal during this relatively mild morning. We did log around 4.2 miles total! (#neckstrain) Also, I have no idea how to change a date on wordpress, so for the record, this back blast is from December 1st. Thang: Hill 7’s by kiosk (Burpees and CDD) Flood wall by pond partner 1 rock the body, partner two run the levee loop (3 rounds) Finish with a run around the pond for the whole pax, stopping periodically to do Imperial walkers and catch the six. The Road Less Traveled...backwards

It was several weeks ago at Full Metal Jacket when some Q (I’ll just say Hi Liter or Riptide to cover my bets) called 7’s and in a very respectful and diplomatic way, Callahan screamed out from the PAX that we’re doing them wrong. He continued that 7’s were not just shorter versions of 11. He then grabbed his ball and went home. Being a good person, I wanted to make sure he was ok so I reached out to him and asked him what he meant and how could I make things right. [Read More]

Franklinaversary - 4th edition

On the last Monday in September in 2014, YHC was privileged to be an FNG at an A-Team workout. Today, YHC took the opportunity of his anniversary to repeat his inaugural F3 workout, this time as the Q, just as I did on the last Monday in September 2015, 2016 and 2017. Following the first time I participated in this workout (under the leadership of Denali), I couldn’t raise my arms above my head for 3 days and couldn’t walk properly for 6 days. [Read More]

A Good A Spot As Any

EC Run @ 5:10: YHC, Largemouth, Chanticleer, Denali, Chipper, Hermes, Build-a-Bear, Term Paper Lately I’ve been curious what a workout might look like if we never leave the Warm-Up Circle. Today we found out. To help, I brought some fun toys to play with. An agility ladder, jump rope, 40lb sand bag w/ handles and a 30lb sand bag w/o handles. 5:44:30 I give the disclaimer to FNG Cheese Pelt. 5:45:00 we run 50 yards from the upper parking lot to the lower parking lot.
