The Pain of Victory

YHC generally likes to plan a pattern or theme to Q’s to aid in poor memory and develop some flow within the workout. Today’s inspiration cam from Monday nights College Football National Championship game. A high scoring game with some ok decently suited acronyms laid the ground work for an Q. But I couldn’t remember the order of scoring and TD vs FG so I arrived at Hot for Teacher a little early with some sidewalk chalk in hand to sketch out my weinke along the path. [Read More]

Adventures in Apex

It was forecast to be very cold, but we braved only low thirties at Dante’s Peak on Friday. Seven HIM warmed up the area with a classic warm-up of Hillbillies, Imperial Walkers, Side-straddle Hop, Calf Stretches and of course Good Mornings. We moved immediately to a wonderful round of sevens with Burpees at the bottom and squats at the top of the hill offering brief chance for recovery. In the primary park parking lot, we made four rounds of four corners: Merkins, Freddy Mercury, Lunge (or jump lunch or, as Clockwork would have it double time quick feet), and jump squat. B.E.E.R.

The idea for this Q started a few weeks ago when Sooey preblasted something about not wanting to drink alone at Off the Rails the next morning. My degenerate brain took that to mean that he was planning to bring alcohol of some sort the following morning. Turns out Sooey just didn’t want to post alone on a cold morning, but the seed of a beer-themed workout started to grow. Then last week at Off the Rails, Sooey mentioned that story to Disco Duck who was equally enthusiastic about some sort of beer-themed workout. [Read More]

BLIMPS!!!

On Monday this week, Slim Shady made me a deal that if I Qed Lion’s Den, he would go ahead and get on the Q sheet for Wild Wild West. So here we are. I had thought about just running back last week’s Back In Black Q, but that seemed like cheating and then the M decided last night was a good time to take down the Christmas decorations, so I never did get a chance to put the thought I wanted to into the plan, but BLIMPS was close enough to last week so there it was. Sevens Three Ways

Site Q Sooey had promised 57 degrees this morning, and he was off by about 13 degrees, so 13 vets and 1 FNG had to deal with an Angry Duck Warm-Up Mosey to the Christmas tree in beautiful downtown Apex and circle up for a few warm-up exercises, including Good Mornings from Crimson. The Thang Mosey around the corner to the T-intersection next to the Methodist church and split into three groups. [Read More]

12 Days of Schlitz-mas part deux

YHC had wanted to Q his home site at some point in the next few weeks. After 15 miles at Oakwood 24 over the weekend I was only 4 miles short of 1000 miles for the year. I didn’t want to leave it to chance so I jumped on the Q sheet to make sure I got enough mileage to hit 1k. Well, it’s Christmas week so why not pull back out last year’s FMJ 12 Days of Christmas. 🎶 5 Bu-r-pees... 🎶

The Q for Lion’s Den remained unfufilled and I hadn’t Q’d on the home turf in sometime so I took the opportunity. 10 Pax gathered at the flag with no FNG’s although with the winter gear on some were more distinguishable than others. A quick pledge and we’re off. Tour of Lights Mosey I had promised Coxswain a view of my neighbor’s Star Wars Christmas display as a perk to coming to Lion’s Den earlier in the week on Slack, alas he picked up the Q at Point Break so wasn’t with us – I decided to go through with the tour anyhow.
