I don't need to 'splain myself

I see what you’re trying to do, Cally, and I don’t need to explain the burpee hill race. My crew DOMINATED IT. It sucked, yes. But we did it because: The Q said to do it and you do what the Q says. Good leadership I guess. It sucked. Usually things that suck are hard. We wanted to better ourselves. Back in Black is better than BO. (Don’t ask Term Paper or Jiggly Puff though) The Burpee Hill Race: [Read More]

Mixed Signals

A half dozen for the pre-run and a full dozen for the main event showed up at Koka Booth Monday morning to start their week off right. YHC was accused of “being mean” multiple times during the workout, but then was also told it was my “best Q of the day.” Not sure which, if either, of those is true, or maybe both. I’m confused but maybe this will clear things up… [Read More]

2nd Annual Bacon Run

With the Tobacco Road Half and Full Marathon approaching, the pax joined for what has quickly become an annual tradition… well at least for this second year in-a-row… a long ATT run followed by top-notch fellowship in the parking lot centered around the all-time champion of breakfast meats, BACON. Distances varied between 5-16 (based on YHC’s count), with the majority of pax locking in on that 10-mile distance. Dang near purrfect with the race coming up in 10 days. [Read More]

The Regency Islands

Drew the Back in Black Q for the second time in its short history, and I didn’t quite get to do what I had planned the first time… so after a deeper recon dive, let’s hit it. 8 HIM gathered after the flag, and after a site-Q recommended disclaimer, off we go for a quick lap around the lot enter the Symphony Lake greenway, but then turn left back toward the road cross the street using the crosswalk and circle up in the lot for GM/IW/CP/SM Thang 1 - PARTNER UP! Merkins, Merkins, Merkins, and more Merkins

Yesterday evening I was perusing the weather forecast, workout options and Q-sheets….ok, yes, I was Q-Shopping a bit. About that time, Yoga Mat posted that Bluewater would be running the show here at FWD in the morning and I immediately decided…THAT is where I’m going!!! Shortly thereafter, I got a call from Bluewater advising he would not be able to make it and asking if I would fill in for him. [Read More]

Tribute

The weather this morning reflected my mood to a T. It was rainy, dreary. A slight wind took whatever moisture was on our clothing and used it to sink its chill deep into our bones. A real jerk move, wind. The evening prior I had hoped that maybe the weather forecast was wrong. After all, the weather experts/enthusiasts only gave it a 60% chance of raining from 0630 to 0730. Alas, I resigned myself to the fact that we were going to get wet and cold. [Read More]

True HIM Tribute

Just a bit moist & slippery – maybe it’s the perfect conditions for Slippery When Wet…. Wow – pulling in the parking lot, Flacco’s light bar blinded & spotted a few good men already there….. & then they just kept streaming in via car, EC run, or rescue boat it seems…. FNG was briefed on the F3 disclaimer 1:1 – he & his dad in for the weekend up from Florida with other family to support Liverpool. [Read More]

Bringing Sally Up

A F3 mentor taught me long ago to only Q what you can do. A nice catchy phrase and one that I have tried to adhere to. I believe as the Q it’s important to lead by example in attitude, effort and execution of all exercises called. When a man volunteers to lead other men he wants to be his best on that day in every way he can. Ideally all of the above falls in place for every Q everyday. [Read More]
