It was a wheelbarrow of a time with Merkins, taboot! Luckily, QIC/YHC had extra gloves for those who showed up in the gloom without any.

Date: 9/5/19 PAX: Butt Fumble, Cataracts, Chicken Little, FNG Dreamliner, Frisco, Glow, Headroom, Oxtail, Prosecco, QueeQueg, Qwerty, Shipper, Slappy, Smithers, Taxi Driver, Wahoo, WWW The morning was beautiful with a comfortable 70 degrees. As the PAX showed up, I asked those who did not have any gloves as they stepped out of their chariot, why no gloves? Luckily, QIC/YHC was prepared and handed those without gloves extra gloves that I did have. [Read More]

DLR's Choice!

YHC got on the signup sheet for this site months ago, right when it went live! Who knew I’d get busy at work and home, and let the fitness slide a bit (a LOT). So, with a Q on the horizon, I JUMPed back on the bandwagon last week to try to get my DROP DEAD LEGS back in shape. With all the BRR prep out there, I thought it would be nice to NOT run too far today and to get in some flexibility where we could. [Read More]

Sweet Pickles

This was my first ever posting at the infamous Lion’s Den. So, what better way to kick the tire than to Q? Quick disclaimer (not really) and the pledge. Mosey through the back parking lot to the school entry – circle up and enjoy some Good Mornings, Sir Fazio’s (front and back), SSHs, alternating leg kicks, and of course, Ernie Davis Heismans (Biner’s form is a work-of-art). The Thang Mosey to the first pickle – Lion’s Den has A LOT of pickles. [Read More]

Calculated Risks

In the summer of 1993, YHC and his M had just graduated with our respective Bachelor’s degrees from The Dub (UNCW). My dad was a building contractor with a small crew of 2 men, and had just signed a contract to build a house. I was in need of gainful employment over the summer before starting grad school at UNC. So the M and I spent 12 somewhat awkward weeks in the summer of ‘93 living with my parents and spending some weekends at our freshly rented apartment in Chapel Hill. [Read More]

Anything for a Q-zie

While perusing our beautiful Q-sheet, looking for a spot to q and remembered I had never Q’d FMJ and there was an open spot and you get a koozie. I mean when stars align you go with it, even if you don’t have a theme ready to go. Everyone gathered in the parking lot, trying to stay away from the problematic traffic coming in. Disclaimer for the Pax/FNGs and we’re off. [Read More]

Bigger than I expected ...

TWSS. A sizeable group of Carpex’s finest showed up and parked along Laura Duncan. Crap. There goes the planned workout. Not a problem, you can conjure up just about anything on a steady mosey. After 34 welcome fist bumps, a thorough disclaimer, an intro to FNG Paul and we were off. After a stellar weekend at F3 Dad’s Camp that included quite the libation session around a fire and more carbs and saltpeter (KNO₃) that’s remotely advised for anyone, I was ready to get after it. Hace Dos Anos

On some date in early to mid August, 2017, YHC showed up at Sovereign Grace Church on a Wednesday. An FNG. CHIPs from South Wake had been EH’ing me for a while, and I always had an excuse. Some excuses were more real than others. Anyway, the workout was hard and I kept coming back. Two days later I posted at Dante’s Peak, and was officially hooked. In celebration of this momentous occasion, 9 PAX showed up at Tortoises in the driving rain, under threat of thunderstorms, to help cap off year 2. [Read More]
