A String of (Back in) Black Pearls

11 HIMs braved the coldest morning this fall morning at the finest Thursday AO in Carpex east of Hwy 64. YHC has a tendancy to make every workout high tempo, so I tried to tone it back a bit this morning. I did fail to brief the FNG before we got started, however I had confidence Bayonne had provided ample discussion during the EH’ing process. 5:15 (Feels so good to type that! Some tea for Dora

Over 70 Pax showed up for the Odyssey only two days ago, and after six AO’s and 11.5 miles of total distance covered….rest assured there would be some sore pax by this morning. Would it be possible to hit a muscle group that wouldn’t be sore already? Let’s see….. Wait, what tha hell is this hard clear stuff on my windshield?!?!?! Frost?! Weather channel said 36 degrees!!!! After the truck warmed up enough to get that melted, I headed to the AO for a little EC Odyssey recovery run with Ollie. No 605 Boys

14 early birds opted for the latest and greatest 0515 AO ever to grace Carpex with its presence! As AC/DC’s “Back in Black” lit up the airwaves of the Kokabooth parking lot pax began arriving in their themed black attire. Forget tanks. “Badass Black” all DAY! The question, “Do we need headlamps?” was presented and quickly laughed off by the 3 co-site Qs. Yes, 3 site Qs. Let’s meet them: Hermes - cofounder of FWD, greek god, and headband wearer. Cherries and Pain Sticks

Pre-Blast This being my virgin Q and my first time at SNS, I truly appreciate all the support and advice from the PAX. Special thanks go to Angry Elf for the pep talk the night before and for planning the Thang with the pain sticks. I do wish I had made it to Q school. It is amazing how much I didn’t pick-up naturally from two months of just doing the workouts. [Read More]

I Did It All for the Koozie

They say good things come to those who wait. Who are they? The PAX? The Q? 24 gathered to find out for a VQ that was a long time coming. YHC awoke at 0420 for a 0530 VQ approx 4 minutes away. Alrighty then. Arrived early to off load the pain sticks and found FNG Daniel alone in the parking lot with his car and an empty black BMW. PAX piled in the small lot, disclaimer was given, and off we went. [Read More]

The Cheddar Beast

Excited and a tad nervous for VQ week and my VQ at A-Team. Call me obsessive compulsive but I made two scouting trips to the AO, one in the daytime and one 30 minutes before go time, just to make certain that what I saw in the daylight still worked in the gloom. Good news…it did. No FNG’s but just for practice (you talk’n ‘bout practice) gave the disclaimer speech and off we went with a goal of seeing the familiar parking lots in a little different light. Magic 8 Ball (Dice)

It was a calm, dark, and misty morning at Phoenix as I prepared for my (solo) virgin Q, it also kinda served as an unofficial “kickoff” of VQ week, which will officially begin on Monday. As expected the butterflies were stirring and the adrenaline was flowing, but I was definitely ready! By 6:25 a total of 18 pax were gathered and ready for the workout, and after an official welcome at 6:30, we were off jogging to the parking lot of the community center for warm ups. [Read More]

Gloom+ECR+ECP+Bruisers+Vanilla = A wonderful way to start your day

After my plane landed in North Cary, I met Chanticleer for 4 mile EC run. When we finished, we heard the EC pull-up crowd wrapping up, and then the rest of the PAX trickled in. No FNGs, and off we went. A mosey around the pickle and circle up. Warm-Up Good Mornings, Windmill, Sir Fazio Arm Circles, Seal Clap, Overhead Clap, SSH, Steve Earle Mosey over to the basketball court. [Read More]

Franklinaversary - 4th edition

On the last Monday in September in 2014, YHC was privileged to be an FNG at an A-Team workout. Today, YHC took the opportunity of his anniversary to repeat his inaugural F3 workout, this time as the Q, just as I did on the last Monday in September 2015, 2016 and 2017. Following the first time I participated in this workout (under the leadership of Denali), I couldn’t raise my arms above my head for 3 days and couldn’t walk properly for 6 days. [Read More]

Peaceful Transitions

A few months ago at regular Wolverine coffeteria Hi-Liter and Biner were talking about who would be the next Site-Qs. That’s when our eyes met and the rest is history Biner did the same thing to BOGO, but it looked like this: It was weird, but it worked. All kidding aside, I think I can speak for BOGO in that we were both excited to take on the role and really look forward to seeing how the site evolves over the upcoming year. [Read More]
