New COVID-19 Version High Tempo

A new time and a new history being made. This is the first week of Full Metal Jacket since schools have closed and a new work from home policy has begun for most due to COVID-19. Always looking at the silver lining, that should equate into more HIMs being able to post…and we were not disappointed. First exercise, the Pledge of Allegiance Warm Up Took off on a little mosey to explore across the street. [Read More]

You're no Prodigal

Sunday afternoon, YHC was finally done with most of the chores for the day (after a great morning TRM tuneup run with Wonderbread), and checked in on Slack to see what was up. First priority was to check on the Q status for Gran Torino Friday…OH NO we need a Q! But then, a more urgent call for help was noticed. Prodigal needed someone to take his Kryptonite Q. It’s been a while since I Q’d (and especially Kryptonite), so I tossed my hat in the ring. [Read More]

1983 GMC Vandura

The AO A-Team has special place in YHCs heart. After all, it was where my first post was in July of 2016 with Banjo as the QIC. That particular day we had 18 men, and all but two are still Carpex regulars. In fact, four of those guys were there today: Banjo, Compound W, Michelob, and Shut-In. YHC rolled up with about 4 minutes to spare. Holy Schnikies!, nowhere to hardly park. [Read More]

Deconstructing Decomposition

It was a good day at the Green Mile. You’d never have guessed that we were recovering from school-closing-level inclement weather that terrorized Wake County just one day ago. Eight HIM avoided the well-advertised long run to Durham and worked their whole body while tooling around Cary. The beat-down began as the just-setting full moon lit up the night. We warmed up thoroughly after the weather had dropped about 30 degrees over the last 24 hours: plyo-jumps for length and height complemented karaoke, butt kickers, and high knees during three loops around the track. Going the distance

Gran Torino has become one of my favorite AOs. It draws a wide variety of pax, and those that come are tough customers. Today was no exception. As my first post there this year due to travel and work, I was eager to set a good example, especially as co-site Q’s @largemouth and @chanticleer were present. 5 for one EC run, a few others for another, and even more for EC PYPs, meant pretty much everyone was warmed up at go-time. The Lord Provides

The last few weeks at Hell’s Bells has been great as we’ve been pushing 20+ PAX several times. The issue this creates is we are always on the edge of having enough bells, and the site Q’s (Lindy and I) are working on getter more bells (Send Money to Lindy’s Venmo @Joeldangerfield if you can help, $5 goes a long way). Fortunately, the Lord always provides, this time in the form of cinder blocks. [Read More]
