Core Principal #1....We Need More Core!

YHC’s goal for the SNS beatdown….don’t stop moving, and engage the core! My challenge to the PAX and future Q’s is to engage the core, and step up the numbers….it doesn’t have to wait for Mary! Though a fine 6-pack…this is NOT what we are talking about! Warm up Quick jog to the community center parking lot, backwards run in a circle to capture the 6 SSH Merkins Calf Stretches w/wide-grip merkins enough…. [Read More]

I will not leave you

Men, Two years ago today I showed up in the F3 Carpex Gloom at the invite of my fraternity brother, Jamie “Repeato” Roseborough. I had been back in North Carolina for about eight months and things were going well. I was getting in workouts about three days a week in the gym and crushing a strong 2-3 mile solo run on the weekend. Things were fine, right? Wrong. Something was still missing, and as they say, you now know the rest of the story. [Read More]

Entering AREA 51

Thanks to you guys, I’m a better man at 51 than I was at a decade or two ago. That’s an understatement, to be sure, but I won’t bore you with details. Just wanted to say that my body is sore but my spirits high, and I attribute most of that to the excellent group of HIMs that I’ve come to associate with. Fight the good fight, finish the race, keep the faith. [Read More]

21 for 22's

Warm-Up Mosey out of the park and safely across Cary Parkway to the office park and circle up for imperial walkers, Sir Fazios forward and reverse. Notice Red Ryder’s smiling face as he sneaks into the circle, ask the site Q’s what time we start, confirm my suspicion that he’s late, reward his tardiness with ten burpees OMD (#noOYObro). Close out the warm-up with good mornings and criticism of my cadence. [Read More]

Bunch of Half-Dead Romanians (Friday, May 3rd)

SWW remains one of my favorite AO’s and with the stash of CMU’s (Cinder Blocks) acquired by Bayonne….it’s even more versatile! I try to keep most of my workouts to fairly high-tempo, constant movement type stuff, and I also try to ensure we hit at least one lesser-used muscle group. Today was no different and the targeted lesser muscles were the back and hamstrings. 25 HIM’s showed up to see what was in store, and I’m not one to disappoint! [Read More]

Spartan Training #1 at A Team

Date: 4/30/2019 QIC: Parker YHC signed up for the Asheville Spartan Super later this summer, following in the footsteps of Build-a-Bear, GTL, Malpractice, Spartan, and I’m sure a bunch of other PAX who enjoy this sort of thing. BaB just keeps telling YHC to work on grip strength, so that’s what we set out to do today at A-Team. 15 PAX gathered at the gate, disclaimer and F3 mission statement given, Pledge said, and off we go. Y2K was not the best decade for music

Warm-ups Side Straddle Hops Good Mornings Cotton Pickers (my hammies were really tight) Sir Fazio Arm Circles Merkins Calf Stretches Thang One We ran through the darkness of the green way heading for the bridge. Exercise To Be Named Later

Beautiful morning for a 0515 workout. Even better for a 0440 EC. Repeato enjoyed a ruck, YHC and Gym Tan Laundry enjoyed a 3 mile run while discussing rock climbing. (If you haven’t already, watch the Documentaries The Dawn Wall & Free Solo. In that order.) 9 other HIM showed up, disclaimer “was given” and off we went. Mosey to the median at the end of Regency Pkwy for a little Warm-Up and Advertising. [Read More]

Music of the '70's

In one of the top 5 darkest AOs in Carpex, 11 HIM strode into the gloom to the sultry sounds of Brown Sugar and Many Dirty Deeds were Done Dirt Cheap. Side Straddle Hop Good Morning Imperial Walkers Sir Fazio Arm Circles Merkins Calf Stretch Thang One Leaving the parking lot, we ran toward the pedestrian bridge and stopped at the crossing so the Q could catch up. B-day Q-Week Begins!

As I reflect on the year that has been and prepare to celebrate the completion of my 58th trip around the sun, I busted out the music from the decade of my birth and started the beat downs. Warm-ups The mission, disclaimer, and pledge were recited. There were no FNGs. We ran from the flag to the top right parking lot listening to Aretha sing “Respect” where we circled up. Warm-ups consisted of Side Straddle Hop, Good Mornings, Imperial Walkers, Sir Fazzio Arm Circles, Merkins, and Plank Calf Stretch.
