Some Things Never Change

Prologue: extensive interviews took place with several OGs of Carpex to obtain information for the following epic story of Danger Zone. The history of the Danger Zone, the original Area of Operation in Carpex, runs deeeeeep. As fate, or faith, would have it…..the location for the greatest AO in the U.S.A was obvious. [There were a couple of other trials at other Cary locations: Walnut Street Park and Kids Together Park (site of current FWD), but North Cary Park ultimately was selected]. [Read More]

The Nautilus - Writ Large

When YHC’s alarm roused YHC from YHC’s dream about a land where Burpees are always in perfect form and L-R counts as 2 lunges, YHC said to YHC, “YHC, it’s a great day for YHC to have the Q at YHC’s favorite AO at a USA Baseball Complex directly adjacent to a toll Interstate that YHC spends several of YHC’s pretty pennies on. But, what should YHC bring to the party today? Fly, Eagles Fly! (5 Feb 2018)

13 Hung(over)ry PAX showed up at Wolverine for holy-cow-that-was-an-amazing-Superbowl-so-GO-EAGLES beatdown. Temps were modest for January, no rain, and no last-minute additions. Somebody had to help Hi-Liter with his strap-on (Breathtaker, that is). Welcome and disclaimer to Tubeless’ Father-in-Law Dennis, and we’re off to the races. Warm up: A moderate mosey pace down to Davis Drive Middle, with a little side-shuffle left and right along the way. Circle up for 20 SSH IC, 15 mountain climber IC, 15 plank jacks IC, 15 merkins IC. Infinity and Beyond

Happy to be back heading up #TeamFOD this morning. 13 more pax decided to as well. Looked like 5 enjoyed a new signature EC run in as well. We aren’t all blessed to have AOs within running distance to our houses, people. (At least you don’t do like some pax, whom shall remain nameless, and make them run to you and name the EC run that you only half partake in after yourself. [Read More]

Birthday Extravaganza and January 26 History Lesson

YHC’s birthday fell on a Friday this year so of course I was planning to Q the best AO in Carpex, on Friday, in North Cary. To my delight, Saban has the same birthday and the same plans. The Co-Q fix was in. 14 arrived, one was a FNG - 13 on time, Flip flop was late. Come on bro, as a future site-Q, you are going to have to tighten up. [Read More]

The Day EVERYBODY Spelled MERLOT

Pre-BB It was high time that EVERYBODY at a CarPex AO ALL spelled MERLOT on the same workout. YHC was determined to make that happen today. And so it did. BB 6 highly committed, highly motivated men spelled MERLOT at Wolverine on a nippy January morning. The Warmup - Pledge of Allegiance at the flag - Run to the north field, far corner - SSHs, Good Mornings, St. Merkins, Sir Fazio+OH Claps, Penalty Burpees, Hillbillies, LBCs - Run to the rock pile, grab a “one hand” rock - Run to the shelter with the rock over your head [Read More]

Ab-stract

Ab-stract: existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence. Fear and Trepidation- Gotta admit it fellas, SNS is like the Holy Grail (okay, wrong AO, that’s Flying Circus) of Carpex workouts (sorry DZ) to me. So much going on here on Wednesday mornings, that over the last 2.5 years YHC has been constantly growing more and more nervous about the possibility of ever Q’ing this site. Shuttyversary Day 3: Gettin' After It

YHC and a crew of 7 hit up a little EC Phoenix run to kick the morning off. A 1 mile down / 1 mile back run. Upon return to Phoenix there was a new face amongst the crowd. Apparently 1 HIM-in-training saw YHC’s call to action on Facebook to join some men in the outdoors and the cold for a 0630 workout! Welcome FNG Butterscotch! Disclaimer was applied and we lapped the parking lot and ran out to the intersection for our #ShutInStandard Warmup. [Read More]
