If you want to be number one, train like you are number 2, yep, another BRR inspiration

The concrete doesn't actually obliterate your hands

Many of you know that I sometimes go lift after F3. I learned several months ago that doing an EC Run, posting for a beatdown, and then going to the gym usually just leads to a half-assed lifting session, and I stopped doing that. Well, last night I wasn’t thinking clearly and set my alarm for the EC Run knowing I was going to lift after. So,….I really just cheated myself out for 30 minutes of sleep this morning, and I was having some fantastic dreams fishing in Alaska. [Read More]

Q-School: Exam Day

It was a good day for a VQ, thanks to the perfect mix of humidity, heckling, helpful encouragement, and reminders from Shut-In that the things he brought up in Q school were better applied than remembered. Despite lots of “you’re starting at SNS?” questions we’re off. Mosey in the unusual direction from the flag, getting started at the ropes course parking lot. After a brief attempt to keep up appearances by suggesting that Build-a-Bear was passing the test in observing my counting woes, we found the correct combination of pauses and cadences to get going. Yeah, I know, another BRR inspired workout

Denali, bless his heart, he means so well, introduced Bagels (owner of Duck Donuts) and Greenbo to all the other pax. That guy has a heart of gold, and a penchant for making good coffee, but more on that later. Thank you for your leadership. Since there are no FNGs, we are off. Mosey to the HCL America parking lot, hopefully we won’t get kicked out, and do a little warmup, various exercises including runners stretch and pigeon pose. [Read More]

Fellowship at Wolverine

The first weekday morning after i turned 49 was glorious. 18 strong filled what is left of the parking lot at the darkest of all AOs (unless it is within a week of the summer solstice). We congratulated Build a Bear and jigglypuff on their EC (after which Puff headed home), then we had a moment of silence for our brother War Child. After this sobering start to the day, we were off. There's a fine line between Mumble Chatter and just plain whining.

Four More Years!

YHC joined F3 four years ago, and Ma Bell was the Q at my first workout. Back then there was only one AO per day, Monday through Friday, and he was Q’ing the whole week to celebrate his 50th birthday. Remember that number, it will be important later. I found the backblast from that first post and modified the workout for today, with Ma Bell’s assistance. It was a little tougher than a normal Disco Duck beatdown. [Read More]

Battle Rope Monday

Two weeks ago, Squatter busted out a battle rope at FWD. I loved how much I hated it, so I ordered one for my home gym (aka, 8 square feet in my garage, usually covered by tricycles). Fast forward to my VQ. A-Team leans problematic, and I suspected the VQ trainwreck might draw some additional bodies, so I tried to brainstorm some ways to corral the masses. I settled on Battle Rope Monday.
