Fired up for some Turkey!

Wednesday morning’s are always a high energy affair with Insomnia runners coming in and the Vesper and SNS crowd ready to kill it. Add to that the pre-holiday excitement, temps near freezing and anticipation of Kitty’s upcoming Thanksgiving extravaganza, New Year’s Eve in Times Square had nothing on the 34 gathered at the Senior Center this morning! At the crack of 5:45, the Vesper’s headed out to explore new trails and the SNS crowd got after it. [Read More]

Liverpool Loves Dips

Feeling like the ankle is getting back to full speed, and with the Thanksgiving convergence coming up, YHC knew he needed to shake a little bootcamp beatdown rust off. There is no finer AO on a Monday morning at 0530 on Davis Drive than Wolverine, for said beatdown. Oh, but first HIM of all HIMs Build-a-Bear called a 0455 EC run and YHC felt obliged to join. Grizzly Bear Ollie was there to boot and it was a wonderful 3 mile loop. [Read More]

Breaking news, Franklin Q sets the mileage record at Gran Torino

Rumor went out early on slack that YHC was going to break a mileage record at an AO, a sentence few people would ever expect to see in writing. Some showed up this morning to see if it was true, others showed up expecting it to be a record low mileage, but oh no- YHC meant serious business. He was going to attack the 3.8 mile GT distance record. 0530 - one burpee OYO, circle up for count off (18) GM and IW - and then we were off. Rocks, Rocks and more Rocks

Was enjoying chatting up the group when suddenly it was time to go - one burpee OYO i called and then follow me. FIrst Moore came up to me and was very concerned about where we were headed as his FNG had not yet arrived. Dont worry i assured him as we rounded the corner to the back of the parking lot as i had every intention of staying in the exact same parking lot for our warm up. The 2018 Odyssey: It’s a Journey, Not a Race

In CARPEX, we have a saying “if there’s no Back Blast then either it was a Riptide Q or it didn’t happen”. But the Odyssey did happen (I have the t-shirt to prove it) and so it must to go down into the annals of CARPEX so that someday future generations will read about it and ask themselves “What the #*@(#* were those morons thinking?!?!!” So what the #*@(#* were we thinking? Figure Eights, PBRs, and Other Stuff

Q DATE: November 2, 2018 23 HIM for the inaugural Gran Torino Q on a fantastic November morning. The workout plan was stolen from inspired by Freydaddy’s Catalyst Q YHC posted at last week. Since Gran Torino is hi-tempo it needed to be tighten up a bit. We covered 3.7 to 3.9 miles and did some other stuff. Warmup • Pledge allegiance • Jog over to the front of the school • Take a lap around the figure 8 formed by the carpool and bus loops • SSH x 30 • Frog hoppers - like a squat jump but just using feet and calfs for jumping - Hi-liter commented that they were a bit effeminate - next time we’ll do kegels [Read More]

So glad Saban wasn't there...

Wow - love these 530 starts 25 minutes away…. or not. However, it is always a pleasure to lead and this morning was know exception. We started with 15, ended with 15 and had 16 during our mid workout count o rama. Many people that I haven’t seen at all or in a while - that is why it is great to travel. YHC looked through the last several backblasts before his Q at FWD - and noted that they only seemed to a) go to the bridge, b) go across the road to the office park or c) run up and down the Cary Park hill - so my primary goal was to do something different. Monday- Funday!

23 HIM strong in the very moist & gloomy Wolverine – so much for the bright sunshine post time change. T-Claps for 2 FNGs coming out in the rain – nice start! We started with the pledge of allegiance at the flag. Cross Davis to the west sidewalk & head up to the middle school - started the warm up in the front, but moved to the back to avoid the garbage truck… [Read More]

Searching for Light and then we found the Hindenberg

It was a glorious morning at FWD. Build-a-Bear set out for a solo EC 4 miler at 4:50 while Chipper, Lite Brite & Yoga Mat set out for a nice fellowship 2 miler at 5:05. All were back to the flag at 5:30 to be joined by 8 other PAX and the 12 of us begin the search for light. Olsen was also there today but I can’t seem to find him on Slack. The Mag Mile

A beautifully clear day at Wolverine. 5:30 in the morning - 50 degrees. Moon is clear and stars are out. Had an aggressive plan for this morning, but 31 PAX showed up for a beatdown, so I had to adjust. I had planned for a Track & Field event, but ended up with only the track - well, I have my next Q tee’d up. We ran The Magnificent Mile - Nicknamed “The Mag Mile”.
