Kettlebell & Coffee on a Monday Morning!

Looking to wrap up the year stronger than I started I felt it was time to lift heavy things with a group of 23 others HIM. That along with the promise for some trunk coffee and perhaps the need to check off a few last boxes brought me out to Hells Bell’s this AM YHC gave disclaimer, searched for FNGS and with non present we started with the pledge then mozy the pickle and starting with [Read More]

Tortoises

Date: 11/17/2021 13 posted at #ao-wed-tortoisess We had no HIM step up to sign up and Q on the Q Sheet. So, I being the Site Q called a Cluster Q. What’s awesome about this format is everyone working out gets the opportunity to work on calling out the exercise, calling out the cadence, and leading the men through it (mini Q School). Also, the PAX has no clue what their Brother is going to call until they call it. [Read More]

Just a vanilla beat down with no running.

Arriving at 25 mins before go time to the AO, I had a moment of, “crap, did this location get relocated?” As there were no cars in the lot and thus no one doing the “EC thang”. I then also recalled that this isn’t a school and there was no pre-blast sent! Someone else would eventually show up. Nonetheless, I did my own short loop of an EC and then 14 others rolled in to join YHC for what I heard was on task for no mileage and overall solid. [Read More]

So You Say There's a Parking Deck?

There’s really no reason I’ve not been to Dazed and Confused is a few months. So when I was looking at the Q sheet early this week and noticed a gap for Friday, decided to jump in there. Almost immediately, I heard from Mama’s Boy. Apparently he was watching the Q sheet as well. I figure the excitement he was expressing was almost certainly his feeble attempt at reverse psychology. Nevertheless, I’m not taking my name off now. [Read More]

Student Becomes the Teacher (or is it the other way around???)

Q School 101 at Lion’s Den - a site YHC and The Most Sour of all Mashes started just a few years ago. Starts off great, give the disclaimer, no FNGs, and explain that we’re doing the Pledge but it is not a required element of a proper Q. Warm Up Mosey to the entrance to the church, and explain why it is important to understand the layout and features of a site you are Q’ing. [Read More]

Mechanic Training at #ao-thurs-tin2iron

Date: 9.30.2021 PAX: Ausfaht, Left Cheek, Zamboni, Bootlegger, YHC/QIC We did not have a Q so it was up to us to provide for our Brothers. YHC/QIC ask the HIMs to retrieve cinder blocks, KB and weighted rope while I got the tire. We set-up for a tabata crusher. As I was rolling out the tire, Left Cheek asked if we needed a sledge hammer. I replied ecstatically, “ABSOLUTELY!!!” Before the festivities, we Pledged our Allegiance to Old Glory and did a quick warm up. [Read More]

Making Tortoises Great Again

Approximately 4 years ago, after months of EH’ing by CHiPs from South Wake, YHC made his F3 debut at the premier Wednesday limited run AO in all of Carpex. I say approximately because there is no backblast for the workout. But it was the 2nd Wednesday in August, if my feeble 51 year old memory is doing me any favors today. It was rough. Yogi had the Q and I’m pretty sure I coded at least twice during the workout. [Read More]

Magnificent Eight in the Wild Wild West

AO: Wild Wild West Workout Date: 07/26/21 YHC is starting off my birthday Q week at Wild Wild West. I was inspired with a workout variation last night, but with only eight PAX for the workout, I decided to shelve it for later. PAX might see it at Ground Pounder on Saturday. Warm Up: State the mission, check for FNGs(0), and give the disclaimer. Pledge of Allegiance Mosey to the other end of the parking lot for warm ups [Read More]

Balls, Balls, Balls, and Towels

The Back Story Now that I have my first Q under my belt and celebrated my birthday taboot, it was time to commemorate three years of me being a part of this great thing we call Carpex. Three years ago, Sosa’s diligence in EH’ing me for months (seriously) finally paid off and I showed up to Thomas Brooks Park for my first post. Red Ryder was the Q that day at Field of Dreams. Fun Bags

‘Twas a lovely morning in the POGL as four stalwarts converged on the site of Tin2Iron for some work. YHC has been doing some ruck & sandbag training and thought it would be the gentlemanly thing to do to share some of the experience with the PAX. A slowzy around the pickle, and a warm up with Good Mornings, Merkins, Mountain Climbers, and BartmArmORama (Sir Fazio, seal clap, fazio sir, overhead clap, moroccan nightclub). [Read More]
