Rhyme For No Reason

4 HIM gathered, ’twas the break of dawn Bogo planted the flag in the lawn 2 more arrived, comin’ in hot Sabre was driving, the turn he forgot “Let’s do two laps ‘round that pickle, heck let’s make it three, I’m feelin’ fickle” Now time for a warmup, start from the top: GMs, windmills, Fazio, Straddle Hops. When what to my wondering eyes did appear? But a deck of cards, and a workout to fear. [Read More]

Back on the wagon....

Hard to believe - we are here- June 4, 2018 and YHC has not Q’d in 2018 (other than vesper). This from a guy that averaged close to 1x per week in 2017. Oh well, off the horse and here we go. Step 1 - on your 6 - Have a nice day. This was a not so subtle dig at the site Qs that moved their AO start time to 5:30. [Read More]

19 of the finest HIM in all of Apex descended upon the Apex Nature Park probably thinking of a nice easy transition into the weekend by the old man Q. Let me tell you boys, us RESPECTs still got some whup-ass in us. 0545 - let’s go Warm-Up Line up in 4 lines for a cadence run sung to the F3 principles jody written by a Hampton Roads PAX. I understand some of you weren’t able to hear me; sorry about that. [Read More]

Against the Wind

YHC asked about the Dante’s Peak mileage record last week. An innocent question, and not expected to turn into a thing. But since Sooey had the Q the week before me, he took it as a challenge and ran us 3.3 miles. Now it’s up to YHC to top that. Let’s see how we did. Warm-Up Mosey over to end of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, copperhead squats, planks jacks and copperhead merkins. [Read More]

Today in History!

Themes make everything better, so today we paired the workout with events in history that happened on May 29th. in 1922 The Supreme Court ruled that baseball is not subject to Antitrust laws, so we moseyed to the baseball to warm up… 1975-Scary Spice was born (historical significance is still under review) so we did Side Straddle Hops 1953-Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay (thanks sky blue for the additional fact) reached the top of Mt. Memorial Day Tribute

On a day set aside to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice 57 HIMs made a statement of gratitude, respect and admiration for the fallen by way of sweat, tears and even a little blood. Run. Reflect. Get after it. Run some more.

With YHC prepping for a weekend away, and a late open Q at DZ (given some shifting Q’s), I jumped at the chance to Q at Northern Cary’s premiere AO on a Friday. Oh, what’s that Pet Sounds, you want to co-Q? Cool. Oh wait, it’s 0544… no Pet… nevermind. Never-the-less, 12 patriots showed up and these boys were looking fast AF in their red shirts. With that, we’re off and headed towards the Veteran’s Memorial (about 1 mile away). [Read More]

Callahanniversary IV

Four years ago I found myself clinging to the fence surrounding Goose Poop Island at Pullen Park quietly vomiting into the pond. The 58 minutes leading up to that point had been brutal. Double 11’s with Dips, Dirkens, L/R Step-ups, and Box jumps. A bevy of sprints. Bear crawls for two miles. Partner carries. Pull-ups. It all culminated at the Island, where all the other PAX were doing Mary and I was doing my best to not die. [Read More]
