Dante's Peak Walkabout

Perfect weather greeted a group of 19 PAX this fine morning at Dante’s Peak, Carpex’s premier Friday AO. YHC was continuing with Scout Week, this time focusing on the Webelos Walkabout Adventure. The Webelos Walkabout is a 3 mile hike in nature. We encountered snakes, star (jumps), spider (man/peter parker), big beautiful rocks, and brotherhood this morning! In full discloser, there was a lot of mumble chatter on slack about how much distance we would cover this fine morning. [Read More]

Keep Pushing

I don’t know what’s going on with the weather this week. It’s spring, but it’s snowing. The weatherman says it’s one temperature, the thermometer in my car says it’s another temperature, and while I’m standing there waiting for the clock to tick 5:45 it feels colder than either of them. One FNG, disclaimer is given, let’s get the blood moving and warm these boys up. Warm-Up Mosey over to the end of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, imperial walkers, Sir Fazios both ways, plank jacks and merkins (morning, Ma Bell! [Read More]

51 is the Magic Number

There’s an ongoing Slack-o-sphere “discussion” over the #1 AO in all of Carpex. I’ll admit, YHC has stirred the pot just a bit over this one. The primary goal for the February 9, 2018 edition of Dante’s Peak was to show the glorious versatility and overall excellence of what I consider to be THE top destination for PAX of Carpex. So let’s get on with it. Solid group of HIMs (HIDAs? [Read More]

Vanilla is my middle name

Yeah, so relatively speaking I may lack a little in the creativity department when it comes to creating a workout. Oh well. When we’re all sucking wind 20 minutes in, no one is complaining that I didn’t dig deep enough into the F3 exicon. Any chatter at that point is usually a result of all of us pushing harder, getting better. 15 PAX got the basic treatment at Dante’s Peak this morning. Christmas Train!

When the request hit groupme for a Q for Dante’s Peak YHC jumped at the opportunity to lead Carpex’s finest HIMs not realizing that it was the morning after the big Christmas bash. Never fear, I knew I’d have a strong group of HIMs and I wasn’t disappointed this morning. I was a bit worried at 5:37 when we only had YHC, Crimson (because you know he rode with me), and Disco Duck in the parking lot but we had a strong crowd roll in from there. [Read More]

Shutty 5K

Let’s give credit where credit is due. I did not get a chance to write this up yet but here’s our Flyby! https://labs.strava.com/flyby/viewer/#1306614821?c=dnrghqme&z=H&t=1QAcqu&a=JVzhTeli4U1NgOFN About 2.5 miles in there was chatter about whether or not we were running a 5K. So we did. Warmup - Run around the greenway Thang: Mile 1. Shelter work with a lap, rinse repeat x 3 Mile 2. Shelter work Lazy 11s (top shelter) Mile 3. Light pole work and the last . [Read More]
