Not A Flip Flop - Frisco Co-Q

The word on the Slack channel #ao-fri-dangerzone was that Frisco would be gracing his us with his presence, and maybe Qing as well. There was even some Slack DM chatter of a possible co-Q between YHC and Frisco. We really only have one thing in common: 1. We are both handsome. Other than that, we are more of a Yin-and-Yang. Differences are plentiful: one dude is a masterful Q—one dude f*%#s up every Q, one dude calls perfect cadence—one dude can’t count, one dude is a legend—one dude is a legend in his own mind, one dude has a cemented Slack name—one dude appends his name daily, ……. An ode to ConPAINment Area

Friday’s workout at DZ was supposed to have been Q’d by Mr. Original, the one, the first, the only, Louis CK. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to come out which leaves us only a couple of weeks before The Godfather of Raleigh and Founder of CARPEx takes his leave from NC. Hopefully he’ll be back soon. In the meantime, the workout turned out to be more of an ode to the ConPAINment Area, including a throw back to a couple early BB from Cary. [Read More]

Angst rock

Low mileage workouts are not usually my thing. And Qing them especially not. But that’s the fun bit about the CARPEx Challenge. You get to push boundaries and explore new things. This was probably the Q I prepped for more than most recent ones. My main goal was to keep the running to 0 so lots of time to fill. Hope the boys enjoyed. EC: Went for a little run beforehand. Once more unto the breach

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; For here at A-team were we once infected. Twas but a week (maybe more) ago whence we learned Of the ill-will brought upon us by a virus from lands afar. This morn was no celebration. No anniversary. It was merely an opportunity to Q - Nay, to Lead! For A-team is an OG site. One of the first. And such is the spirit of A-team that one must show [Read More]

Record Breaking Hump Day #twss

YHC’s birthday Q week rolls on. I was excited to get after it this morning feeling strong after a long run last weekend and two solid workouts to start the week. Read all about them here and here. Upon arriving at Point Break, parking was limited. There was quite the turnout for ‘Das Boot’ or whatever the name is of the new long run option on a Wednesday that isn’t The Maynard. [Read More]

Measuring 2x with Music

Music has always been a core part of my life. Piano lessons starting at age 6, leading high school youth group on guitar, dancing like a fiend at Phish shows, and most recently mountain biking at Lake Crabtree classic rock (thanks to Road Rash for the tip). I knew once it was time to VQ I’d want to find some way to incorporate it into the gloom, at the very least to honor my namesake. [Read More]

Blottin' the Sasquatch

17 PAX came out for the shadiest CSAUP route this side of New Hampshire. Of the ~12 miles covered, I think maybe a mile was full sun. You have got to love the greenways out here! A few weeks back, YHC saw @F3ENC post on twitter ‘bout their annual Sasquatch CSAUP going virtual. This is an event I know Yogi and Freebird have hit up in the past and raved about. [Read More]

It's not the size of the rock that matters

Weather forecast for this morning was not looking good. And Claymore is one of those AO where options for hiding from the elements are limited. Unless you want to hang out under a tree. There are lots of those. I guess the dugouts technically work but then you have to worry about social distancing and how to do you split the PAX up. And there’s a bathroom. But it’s locked. And speaking of splitting PAX up… just don’t want to go there. [Read More]

A hill 'o beans

Twice as many reps as beans in a can. Introduction For some reason Frisco’s pre-blast was reminiscing about the time he watched Casablanca whilst eating cold baked beans from a tin, washing them down with a cocktail of absinthe and Dr. Pepper. However, interesting fact, the workout I planned had approximately twice as many reps in it as there are beans in a standard can. So, remarkably on point. [Read More]
