Barrel of Pickles

It feels like it’s been quite a while since my VQ, but I’m glad Q #2 was finally here! Last week I made sure to do recon during Hamm’s VQ and was please to see there were 4 pickles, making 5 different running lanes. I now had a plan… 1 FNG, so struggled through the disclaimer and part of the mission and whatnot followed by the declaration of allegiance to Old Glory. [Read More]

Changing of the Guard

The time has come for the guard to change at Wolverine. Bogo and Pivot completed their time at the helm. They did and amazing job, continuing what Hi-Liter and Biner so graciously began two years ago. The workout and transition went something like this. Well, maybe it was a little more American. Maybe not quite that patriotic and brave. More like this. Yes, the workout today was based on the GHHS Color Guard conditioning routines which are set to music. [Read More]

Unexpected Hurdles

I’ve posted at a few other AOs, but I’ve mostly been coming out to Wolverine since I live right across the street. I’m definitely still learning the ropes and so when Pivot asked me to VQ I took the chance. I didn’t feel ready at all but I figured I’d better jump at the opportunity otherwise I’d never volunteer to do it. We had 20 PAX in attendance and there were no FNGs. [Read More]

Let's Get VQ Week Started Early

At 0545 a quick check for FNGs came up empty, which was a bummer because I had absolutely memorized the F3 mission statement. Instead I just let all of the veterans know that I really had no idea what I was doing and they should modify accordingly. On to the Pledge. Warmup: Mosey to the top parking lot to the right and circle up for 20 SSH IC 10 GM IC 10 Standard Merkins OMD Calf Stretches L/R 10 Wide Grip Merkins OMD 10 Daisy Pickers IC Mosey to the back parking lot. DLR's Choice!

YHC got on the signup sheet for this site months ago, right when it went live! Who knew I’d get busy at work and home, and let the fitness slide a bit (a LOT). So, with a Q on the horizon, I JUMPed back on the bandwagon last week to try to get my DROP DEAD LEGS back in shape. With all the BRR prep out there, I thought it would be nice to NOT run too far today and to get in some flexibility where we could. [Read More]

90% FMJ 8-27-19

The Mountains are calling fellas! 7 Men for some EC work, 2 did 2 laps x 1.3 and the rest did 3 laps. 35 Pax were there at 5:30ish, very brief disclaimer/mission statement. Warmup: Follow me: mosey across the street, watch for cars, do a standard warm up, mosey back across the street to the track. The Thang: Run a lap around the track at 90% Do something while we wait on the six. [Read More]

Pair Up in Groups of 3

Day 6 of Frisco’s Week of Terror(ible) Qs. Picking up the 6 is a big deal to me. When I started F3, I was 25 lbs heavier than I am now, facing down a Sad Clown life, and on the edge of being too out-of-shape to keep up with my 2.0. As I lumbered along I had those thoughts of “I can’t do this. I let myself get too out-of-shape” or “I’ll workout on my own for a while then come back when I can hang with these guys. [Read More]

Sweet Pickles

This was my first ever posting at the infamous Lion’s Den. So, what better way to kick the tire than to Q? Quick disclaimer (not really) and the pledge. Mosey through the back parking lot to the school entry – circle up and enjoy some Good Mornings, Sir Fazio’s (front and back), SSHs, alternating leg kicks, and of course, Ernie Davis Heismans (Biner’s form is a work-of-art). The Thang Mosey to the first pickle – Lion’s Den has A LOT of pickles. [Read More]

U Got Desire So Sell Phantom Street Everyday to the Immigrant Love Mother

There are a few truisms in life: You’re going to die and you have no idea when Make time for your friends and loved ones YHC is only going to post once a year at the following AOs: FC, BH, DP, FWD, SWW This BB is for one of those times. It being the end of summer and with school about to start, when the Q-sheet showed an opening for FC on Thursday, I knew it was now or never. [Read More]

Bigger than I expected ...

TWSS. A sizeable group of Carpex’s finest showed up and parked along Laura Duncan. Crap. There goes the planned workout. Not a problem, you can conjure up just about anything on a steady mosey. After 34 welcome fist bumps, a thorough disclaimer, an intro to FNG Paul and we were off. After a stellar weekend at F3 Dad’s Camp that included quite the libation session around a fire and more carbs and saltpeter (KNO₃) that’s remotely advised for anyone, I was ready to get after it.
