Big Surprise!

25 PAX denied the fartsack Saturday morning to put in some hard work with their brothers. It was clear, low 70’s, and perfect #schweaty weather. YHC knew he was Q’ing Phoenix the entire week, but when M.Callahan was told of it Thursday evening, the plan needed to be changed. And since it was a surprise for YHC, it would be a surprise for all the PAX. YHC teased the PAX on twitter claiming that a world-class surprise would be revealed the last 15 minutes of the Saturday beatdown. [Read More]

Off Campus Work

A muggy Friday at the original Cary (before CarPex) AO. It was 77 with nearly 100% humidity. Site Q Large planted the flag and the men began to gather. Welcome Big Bird (my boy), Puck and Viking from 20 somethings from the ITB and as well as Kotter Billy. Great to have Billy back. Loom is also back in the rotation, too…which is awesome. 22 Pax. I decided to showcase a little different location this am…but heading off campus away from the dark trails of North Cary Park. [Read More]

Tortoises Comes To A-Team

The plan this morning was to bring a Tortoises style workout to A-team. Limited running, unlimited pain. So we moseyed to the first parking lot at the front of the park and stayed there for the entire workout. To my delight and amazement and after Large Mouth and I were just talking about him coming back soon, Callahan walked out of the bushes and returned to Danger Zone! Traveling “Jack Webs”

The morning weather is perfect and 13 PAX all gather on time for another beatdown. No FNGs so we head out and around the skate park and across the street (wait for the cars and then backwards run). Circle-up behind the building for: Warm Up 10 Good Mornings 15 Side Straddle Hops 10 Cotton Pickers 15 Windmills The Thang Finish warmup and get the PAX into a plank hold line. Q describes the first thang workout, 7s running up one side of the building, performing 6 CDDs, run down the stairs on the other side and perform 1 burpee. Raindrops keep falling on my head

YHC planned for some music to enhance the enjoyment of the beatdown and thankfully the theme from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was not on the playlist. Since the speaker and phone were already set up on the field, a little/lotta rain wasn’t going to change my plan. No FNGs, but lots of new faces and we were off. Mozy around parking lot and enter first soccer field. Warm-up [Read More]

More Jets than Chargers... sadly

Going into this VQ, I was hoping to achieve Hall of Fame status but at the very least hit #MinimalCompetence. I thank all the PAX family for putting up with the latter while I work towards the former… you aim for the Hall of Fame but you sometimes have to go through the Jets to get there. But that’s beyond the point… in celebration of TCU Alum LaDainian Tomlinson’s upcoming induction into the NFL Hall of Fame, 13 PAX joined me for a VQ beatdown-ish. [Read More]

Over Hill and Dale in Downtown Cary

So a few weeks ago I was complaining giving constructive criticism about an Indian Run we were in the middle of when Term Paper said, “Guess what, VQ week is right around the corner and you can plan an even better workout.” Dazed and confused, YHC finds himself in the gloom, in front of FUMC, Q’ing the Bradford’s Ordinary. A huge THANK YOU for the yoga mats that appeared! At long last, my wail of anguish has been answered and I have a place to lay my weary countenance! [Read More]

Rockin' the Peak

FOD VQ spot still wasn’t filled mid last week so I was beginning to panic. I called out Sour Mash at the COT and he stepped up to VQ FOD but I could see the hesitation. He would be going in cold and I was going to be out of town. So I snagged this last minute Q from Petsounds to Co-Q with Sour Mash so we could practice some cadence counting. Day Dreaming

YHC is glad to be part of VQ week! Thanks to all the PAX that participated in FOD today. I now have a better appreciation for how much the Q has to juggle, not the least of which is catching one’s breathe while talking and exercising.
