One more lap

YHC was pleased to see 18 HIMs gather in the gloom for a mostly running workout. I realize the PAX like to incorporate all the major muscle groups so I incorporated a variety of exercises, but I really prefer running. Today we covered 2.8 miles around the parking lot, but next time we will take one more lap around the parking lot which should get us to 3. Disclaimer No FNGs, so standard disclaimer and Pledge of Allegiance. [Read More]

Holy Sh*%! It's been a year!

What a crazy ass year it’s been! Thinking back to this time last year, I couldn’t have imagined that a few beers at Lowes Food with a bunch of dudes named Steve would have impacted me quite like it has. Chicken Little and Hamm had been working on me for months and I kept holding strong, sleeping in and making excuses. That was until Sooey had to go and buy me a beer – well, technically Schlitz gave me a free beer, but Sooey shelled out the dough for my second. [Read More]

BackBlast(s) Beatdown

So last week I had a brutal beatdown planned to end my one year anniversary week, but some unforeseen circumstances prevented that. Luckily Wrench is a true HIM and stepped in and even luckier the Q was open this week so I had a second chance to bring some pain. EC For those who don’t know, Wrench’s DES this year is to run the Maynard and then do a murph and I’m guessing probably a triathlon in the afternoon. [Read More]

Four Corner Burnout

It twas a great morning in the downtown part of Apex as (lucky number) 13 pax, including an FNG, showed up for a beatdown! YHC made sure to get there a few minutes ahead of schedule to make sure Google maps was still all it was cracked up to be.. as well as my memory.. So after the disclaimer was given and the pledge was recited, we were off! Warm up: [Read More]

Vanilla

YHC picked up the Q slot for Bounty Hunters and did not have much of a plan so let’s just roll with the basics. A solid group of 9, no wait 10 PAX were off at 5:30 sharp towards Thales. Side note: Frisco first posted at BH in May 2018. YHC had a HC that Frisco was going to attend this morning so a repeat of his first day at Carpex was planned over at Thales. [Read More]

The S.S. Schlitz's One hour tour...

As YHC’s quest to complete more of the 2020 Carpex challenge continues, it was time to take a turn at the Phoenix Q. Bond Park is such a large AO, with so many options, I wanted to take the Pax on a tour of some of the typical stops along a Phoenix/SNS beatdown. YHC and the Triplest of Lindy’s for a nice, balmy 3 mile EC run. Here’s what went down: [Read More]

100' from the pool and still drenched

The NC summer is officially here. How does one know? When you’re driving to an AO at 4:43 AM and your wipers are going but it’s not actually raining… it’s humid. And hot. And it was both of those today. [Editor’s note: as I was working on this BB, YHC noted that Cauliflower posted an eerily similar BB at the same time. You can read his masterpiece here: https://f3carpex.com/2020/06/10/summer-in-nc-almost/] EC: Called an EC run. [Read More]

Burpees for Days

11 PAX joined YHC at Bond Park this morning for a great start to the weekend. It is good to see things returning to somewhat normal slowly after the last few weeks of staying home. YHC signed up to Q for accountability. If your name is on the Q sheet, theres a very high likelihood you will make it to the work out. After several weeks ‘off’ it is good to make sure you get up when the alarm goes off. [Read More]

Keep Calm and Carry On

YHC checked the Q sheet Thursday and no Q had signed up. I was supposed to be out of state this weekend, but those plans got canceled, of course. So, I picked up the Q. Warm-up: We started with the pledge, then 8 boot campers separated off from 4 bruisers / ruckers. We ran from the flag to the kiosk in Bond Park for a little warm-up, basically just stretching with some good mornings, calf-stretch, and arm circles. [Read More]
