Traveling Pain Pills

AO: Phoenix Twelve HIMs gathered this morning for some fun at Phoenix. Welcome brother Chum, who joined us from F3 Chapel Hill area. Here’s what we did. Warm-up: Mosey to the upper lot, circle up for Good Mornings, Side Straddle Hops, Windmills… on cue, Callahan arrives late, again. Continue with Sir Fazio’s forward, Seal Claps, Overhead Claps, Sir Fazio’s reverse. Five penalty Burpees (thank you, Callahan). Finish up with Merkins and Mountain Climbers. [Read More]

Leg Day at Back in Black

Where did this cold weather come from????? I much prefer the 47-55 degree band and look forward to getting back there! Several Pax know I somewhat regularly hit the gym after F3, and today was supposed to be leg day in the gym. My original plan was to hit F3, then go lift. Unfortunately, I’m slammed with all-day meetings and did not finish my presentation yesterday, so I need the time to do that. [Read More]

Hills & Blocks for 3.0

Nine HIMs met up this fine morning to run up and down some hills and play some more with YHC’s new CMU’s (aka “pain pills”), debuted last Friday in a very soggy Slippery When Wet beatdown. With Hermes’ return to duty, mumblechatter has resumed to a healthy banter. And, somehow, we managed to turn about 3.0 miles today, almost all of it up and down one hill or another. Here’s what we did. [Read More]

Blocks + Rain = Pain

After posting several times with our fine F3 brothers in Hickory, NC this fall, YHC came to appreciate the versatile, yet potentially lethal concrete masonry unit (CMU aka “cinder block”) in a workout. Call it an implement, a coupon, whatever you’d like…they’re 38 pounds of jagged edged concrete. After a quick run to Lowes’, where CMU’s can be found for under $2 a piece, YHC decided to create a morning around them. [Read More]

New Year, new SNS

After a rousing start to 2019 at the 1/1 convergence, it was great to see 32 more PAX lined up to continue getting after it in ‘19. No FNGs, you all know how this works, so let’s go.Quick turn at the end of Billy Run Road back to the parking lot, circle up: SSH x20 IW x19 Standard merkin x20 Mountain climber x19 Thang Count off by threes and mosey to. Shortcut to the Playground

AO: Bounty Hunters After two plus weeks away from F3 (travel and holidays) it was more than time to hit it hard. Anticipating this situation weeks prior, YHC signed up for a lonely slot on the Bounty Hunter Q-sheet…2 days after Christmas. It was more than worth it. Called an EC 2.5 miler, fellowship pace, first at 0515, only to be politely corrected by Sub, reminding of the 0530 workout start time…revised it to 0500 and off we went: YHC, Sub and Build-a-Bear, for a friendly jog around the block, 11 other HIMs joining on time (well, all except for Shut-in, who just may have been late). 1stF #5 of 6 BD & F3’versary Q-week: Larry got that Thang in the middle – 12 Days of Christmas.

BO holds a dear place in my heart because it was the 2ndpost I’ve done when I started in F3. Ma Bell was the Q and I got my introduction to the 12 Days of Christmas. 12 Days of Christmas is to spur happiness and gift giving. OH NO!!!! It provided pain and fatigue. I had to bring it back for the nostalgia it brings. 0545 start – I introduced my Co-Q Franklin who DM me earlier in the week to Co-Q because he had to fulfill the role at BO to complete his leadership challenge. A Deflating BLIMPS...lands in a pile of rocks

AO: Phoenix Yesterday morning YHC, back from three weeks of travel and sacking, Q’d Slippery When Wet and tried a new way to inflate a BLIMPS. Save for a few miscounts, it mostly worked. This morning, as promised, we deflated the thing, ran around a bit, and played with rocks. Saber showed up late, but got a pass (saving the PAX from certain penalty Burpees) owing to his impressive six-pack this week (RESPECT! [Read More]

Let's Inflate a Blimp (learning to count)

Back in the F3 game after three weeks of work travel, holiday feasts and the not-so-occasional Fartsack, YHC and 13 other HIM’s rallied this Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day to inflate a Blimp. Or so we tried (there was a disclaimer that the Q, regardless of all attempts at mathematical education and related engineering training, often loses count). EC preceded the workout with Denali, Joe Smith and YHC for 3 miles around Symphony Lake on a fellowship pace (to avoid losing YHC, sluggish with a touch of a snotty nose…), with a much appreciated last-mile intercept by the ever-dependable Term Paper. Carpex Triple down

‘Twas a chilly morning for the first annual Carpex Triple Down featuring a Ruck, F3 Phoenix, and FiA Moneypenny. Then there was also F3 Dads to boot (yes, that’s how you spell it; it’s not ’ta boot’ or ’taboot’ or any other of the bastardized versions I’ve seen afloatin’ around the interwebs). But I digress. YHC rolled in at t0 with some B-52s rocking the ol pickup. A few minutes later (we’ll call it t1) 12ish of us embarked on a cluster ruck (Triple Down Part 1) while a few others embarked on some runs.
