The Triple Nickel

It’s BRR Season, and that means hills and excessive (debatable) running at most AO’s, especially if you’re not on a BRR team. Today was no exception, and 13 studs posted at the earliest AO in all of Carpex this warm, muggy morning, several of whom just ran the Maynard the day before. I remember when Recovery-sacking was customary after a Maynard. Those good ‘ole days were just last year! I wanted to ensure I was prepared, so in the event a pax or two were just adamantly opposed to doing the BRR Prep workout, I had something special for them, though I advised against it. [Read More]

Is this Kryptonite

QIC: Staubach Once again, I had a master workout plan that would have taken at least 1.5 hours to complete. After having made this mistake more than once, I was able to adjust the schedule and get the PAX back to camp in time for some high intensity exercises before MARY and COT. As we were heading out of the parking lot…there was already some grumbling about the fact we would be running. [Read More]

Sweatin' Bricks

A humble group of 8 HIM’s gathered early for the EC with Jiggly arriving even earlier at 0445 for his first of two laps around the lake. We dodged many a toad along the way. Today YHC Q-subbed for Peeping Tom who remains on IR recovering from an unfortunate cycling accident. He and Greenbow smartly chose to Mall Walk this morning’s workout while ten of us sweat with some bricks. [Read More]

Pre-BRR Hills Today Boys

YHC called a pre-BRR hill day with four laps up the big hill along Cary Parkway (0.8 mi round trip). A few HIM’s arrived early for the EC, then we went right to it. Frying Pan joined us from Rock Hill, SC. Quick warm up over by the CrossFit place, then off to the hill for the workout. Top exercises (one each lap): 30 LBC’s; 30 Freddie Mercs (4 ct); 30 Dying Cockroaches; 30 Hello Dollies. [Read More]

A Whippersnapper Steals the Show

YHC turned 50 on 6/7/2019, the date of this workout (yes the Backblast is late). Half a century on this fine earth and feeling all the better for it! After a truncated EC run with a few of the regulars, 26 of us circled up for the pledge and a Birthday Q. Warm-up Quick jog around the lot, then circle up for Good Morning, some Side Straddle Hops, a sloppily Q’d set of Hillbilly’s and some Michael Phelps style arm stretches. [Read More]

Four More Years!

YHC joined F3 four years ago, and Ma Bell was the Q at my first workout. Back then there was only one AO per day, Monday through Friday, and he was Q’ing the whole week to celebrate his 50th birthday. Remember that number, it will be important later. I found the backblast from that first post and modified the workout for today, with Ma Bell’s assistance. It was a little tougher than a normal Disco Duck beatdown. [Read More]

Six years in the making!

The 6th anniversary was such a big day for Carpex, 3 Q’s were lined up to ensure events would proceed smoothly. Against the odds, a cluster was avoided. Welcome FNG’s Ya Baby and Cradle. Here’s what went down. Warm Up: Shared among the Q’s with SSH, cotton pickers, hillbillies, merkins and yes, you can now go and have a great day since you had a good morning Main thing #1 - Burt: Over to the soccer field, we sprinted back and forth, doing exercises at each end. Flirtin' with The Murph

Hi-Liter asked me to step in for the FWD Q this week, I was honored! Leading up to the Q, I thought to myself, What would Hi-Liter do? I figured it had been at least 4 or 5 days since his last Murph, so it must be time for another Murph, right?! But the famous Memorial Day Murph convergence is right around the corner. Now FWD is strategically placed .5 miles from Cary’s flagship pedestrian bridge, which is irresistible to YHC with the Q. [Read More]

No Merkins Today, Boys!

After yesterday’s chest and shoulder Kitty Kluster at Sippery When Wet, YHC decided it to be leg and abs morning. With the Brave and Mighty Oliie posting for a solo 5-mile EC, the remaining 23 less motivated PAX assembled for the pledge and headed out on a mosey across High House for a warm up. Let it be noted that Pet Sounds posted, fresh from RDU and red-eye from Cali! [Read More]
