I am thankful & I am third

In an effort to add a few more Q’s to YHC’s list before the end of the year, YHC locked in on Thanksgiving morning at Bradford’s Ordinary a few months ago, only to later find out that it would be a Carpex Convergence… and 60-minutes at that. Have not fear PAX, YHC is up to the task and set forth to drop not only a beatdown on the you, but hopefully an impactful post, thus the theme of I am third. [Read More]

Homecoming

Shakin’ Not Stirred was the first place YHC posted with F3, and it’s always felt like home to me, so I was very excited to Q here for the first time. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, merkins, plank jacks, imperial walkers and burpees (at this point YHC really was just trying to get warm). The Thang Mosey over to the shelter at the boat house to find that there were more PAX and less room than YHC expected. [Read More]

Uphill Both Ways

How long’s FWD been in action? How long has it been since I’ve been there? (last time I posted, Fluoride almost killed me…he’s a BEAST) You mean I’ve never had a chance to Q there? What, it’s Sunday and there’s an open Q slot there (and at Vesper AND at Dante’s Peak)? Fantastic, time to pay a visit to Hermes’ homeland. Spent Sunday evening drawing up my plans, had my Weinke all ready to roll. [Read More]

Veteran's Day (Observed)

Pre-BB Quick explanation on the theme of today’s work-out at Wolverine…I was reminded on Sunday at church how easy it is, one week after a school shooting and one day after Veterans Day, to simply slip back into my routine and go on with life. There are many “Monday mornings” when people in painful places go back to their challenges and the rest of us go on with life. Thus, “The Murph” as a reminder that many still face their painful circumstances when the rest of us have returned to our routines. [Read More]

Salute to our Veterans.

Nice morning. 44 degrees. Crystal clear. Respect Week. The original Cary AO. 26 HIMs. The DZ crew was complete this am with Cally and Large in attendance. Today we observe Veterans Day and at DZ we are fortunate to be the closest AO to Cary’s Veterans Freedom Park. Cally took us there a few years back…so we had to go back. A little Rip Tide Pearl on a String was planned for the 1. [Read More]

RESPECT Ladders

Pulling into the Senior Center (an apt place to start for RESPECT Week, as so many pointed out - hardy har har), I could tell there was 24K magic in the air. Someone brought a Wal-Mark special fishing rod, an obvious nod to YHC’s fishing prowess. Some PAX were already sweating from Insomnia; some were sweating the impending beatdown they were about to receive; some took the easy way out and Vespered their way out of a beatdown; some rucked because, you know, running sucks and walking’s not enough. Respect week kick-off

9 PAX for Kryptonite and 1 for Rolling Stone showed up at Koka Booth to kick off Carpex Respect Week. We were greeted by Hermes, playing an old man character by sitting in his patio chair, reading today’s newspaper, and wearing his old-man hat. If you haven’t seen the hat, just look for any of his selfies on GroupMe. Ah, Mondays. You try to start the week off right, but your gastrointestinal system may still be dealing with what you did to it over the weekend. [Read More]

A Respect Week Preview

Admittedly I am jumping the gun on Respect week but I will be out of town and feel deep need to get my “experienced” thoughts included in the week’s activities. If fellow Respects allow, suggest setting goal for workout to provide a beat down that will allow the young-ins to share in our daily ritual of stiffness and aches. 18 in total with buzzer beater arrivals from Loom and Flip-Flop, however, this Friday we had “Wednesday light” with Bartman peeling off to show CK Ruck life and the Large heading out for a solo run due to injury (that’s how Large recovers). Rucking with the Godfather

The Stone rolled in to Danger Zone this morning and gathered no moss, but rather the Carpex Godfather himself, CK. We rucked up and moved with purpose, just under a mile to the Verizon parking deck. Once there, we did a favorite ruck workout of mine called AMRAP 20: 20 flutter kicks, ruck overhead Bear crawl 20yd 20 lunges (each leg=1), ruck held out front 20 mericans 20 squats (ruck overhead) 10 burpees Crab walk 20yd 20 monkey humpers Ruck does not touch the ground during entire set. What's behind the 6?

Writing a bit of a backblast from some solo work this past week, and some observations along the way. Will spare you the backstory, but needless to say, I’m on the disabled list for a while. This photo is from lap one or two, “Before the Fall”. Left knee’s pretty useless at present. So it’s giving me a chance to see things from a different perspective. Inclusive YHC rolled in to Bond Park about 5:05:20 on Wednesday, to see the Insomniacs all flying around the corner, then to see Bartman and his merry band of Ruckers heading out as well. [Read More]
