6 Inches

Hall of Famer Yogi Berra was once asked if he wanted his pizza pie sliced into 8 or 16 pieces… Yogi replied “ya better make it 8, I don’t think I can eat 16”. Sometimes the numbers can be deceptive so when we began our Claymore beat down with a partner combined 200 burpees, a few of the pax gave me stares and some a what the… look. Broken down to 10 sets of 10 sounds better right? [Read More]

Shakin' & Stirrin'

Warm & beautiful morning in Cary’s Bond Park for Shaken not Stirred – great group of hard workin’ men too! It was my pleasure to lead such a group & I thoroughly enjoyed it! No FNGs, only familiar faces. Started with the pledge & moved out to a close-by parking lot. The group was informed that this is F3 – modify as necessary! We rolled into: The Warm Up Circle up for SSH, good mornings, windmills, cotton pickers, calf-stretch merkins, mountain climbers, etc. [Read More]

More like HIMstamine, am I right?

Holy hell, dat yellow stuff is everywhere. Regardless, we pushed through. A group of HIM out for an EC run, and YHC set off to chase down Theismann for ECP. Check out our convo on getting better on today’s PUT6. We wrapped up recording just in time to hear the pax getting restless, it must be spot on 0545. A backwards run for the Q gave me a chance to drop the moving disclaimer on the pax before we’re up to the lot for warmups. [Read More]

Notso Final Countdown

Thank God the rain stopped just prior to 5:45, but it was chilly for sure! Tight group of 4 for the bootcamp, but we certainly made the most of it…also caught glimpses of Skipper-the Rucker (not Skipper - the bootcamper/runner) working hard wrestling some kind of bag….While once again the weather certainly could have been better, but it didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying a tight group of dedicated men. No FNGs, only familiar faces. Design by Committee

Four ruckers filled the leadership void at Rolling Stone in fine fashion by taking turns leading the 3/29 installment. Here’s what went down: Gather by the flag with the high-tempo crew, and watch their 6’s quickly take off toward Preston Circle. We headed in that direction at a nice ruck mosey, stopping at the circle for our Q-a-rama: Hot Cakes: GM x10, bear crawl 30m with ruck on back, return trip dragging ruck on ground. [Read More]

4x13

To borrow a phrase from our Nantan, Ma Bell, today I reached level 52 of life. A strong group of 18 PAX (13 bootcampers, 4 ruckers and 1 bruiser) joined in on the celebration this morning at our Gran Torino AO. Awesome weather for a beatdown with temps in the mid/upper 40s. Let’s see how the old guy did… Warm-Up Jog through parking lot over to the bus loop and circle up for: [Read More]

#F3MentalBattle

37 shakers and vesperers came in to the gloom on special day across F3 Nation, a day where we set aside some time during COT to talk about mental health. But first we have to squeeze 45 minutes of pain into 35 minutes. To help us out, and to illustrate a point, we’re taking one of the Rolling Stone coupons with us, a solid, sturdy log, large and heavy enough that it requires two PAX to carry it. [Read More]

Just in Time Training

I still don’t wear a watch during these workouts. While it’s always good to see Biner, unless he’s Qing of course (then you just have to channel your inner Spartan warrior), he provided the necessary time checks along the way during this particularly time sensitive workout. It was only time sensitive in that we were traveling a long way from the flag and everyone likes arrive home on time. 17 showed, 2 kept Sooey company as he continues his recovery walks, so 14 of launch for a trip around the Apex Lake. Quando Quando Quando

Hermes 3rd f3aversary. Danger Zone. A perfect 43 degrees. Full moon. What’s not to love? 13 of the strongest ever to grace the Carpex gloom showed up to keep Danger Zone great. Former site Qs such as Burt, Largemouth, and Callahan were not among them. Warmup 1½ times around the original pickle and circle up for an arm circle variety pack - regular, overhead, out front. Mumblechatter may have been at an all-time high at this point. [Read More]

Start Late, Finish Early

4am. 10 month old is up and Daddy Dooty begins. Roughly 510, YHC sneeks out of nursery, dresses and hits the door in hopes to make the 520 pre run. As I come flying in, I see an empty parking lot. Luckily, Denali arrives a few min later and we take off on a leisurely stroll through Cary’s finest back roads. 542, we both realize we are going to be late getting back. [Read More]
