Capital Ruck Tour - Raleigh

Four Carpex PAX posted for the Capital Ruck Tour, 2017 edition in Raleigh. This was the 44th stop on the tour of all 50 US capitals, plus DC and NYC. The event is put on by Linus from F3 Tacoma (who is also known as Cadre Danny in the world of GORUCK.) The goal is to raise funds and awareness for Operation Enduring Warrior, which helps adaptive athletes do awesome things. [Read More]

How quickly..

How quickly things change. Last week, Gloom temperatures were in the 70’s and humid. This morning the PAX broke out the long sleeves and sweatshirts (some of them, anyway) for temps starting with a “4.” And that’s Freedom degrees, not in some commie temperature. The Tortoises crew had made the journey north in order to partake of the 2nd/3rdF after the workout (more on this later), so go time was even more of a goat rodeo than normal at SnS. [Read More]

BOOM Chicka BOOM!

Friday mornings are made for Danger Zone, the original Cary AO. 73 degrees, humid, slightly overcast. Nice crowd this morning which formed while I placed the cones on the soccer field. 24 dudes, inlcuding one FNG (more on that later), PigPen and his 2.0…7 year old Boom from Raleigh and Big Bird, Viking and Puck also from Raleigh. One current site Q and two old site Q’s on hand. Caught up PigPen and Boom at the Forge this week when I hung with Chinese Downhill, Half, BigBird, Viking and Puck…promoted CarPex (however not like Hello Kitty and Shut In) and they made the trip to DZ. Let There Be Light

12 warriors entered the gloomiest of all mornings - 75 degrees, a million percent humidity, and no light. With 5 minutes til launch time, there was plenty of time to catch up on the Odyssey goings on. Trying to talk to everyone with all those headlamps glaring at you is not easy. At 0545 we got going. Warm-Up Circle up for 20 x SSH, then follow me out of the park where there is actually light, up Davis and across to the Davis Drive Middle parking lot to continue the warm-up with Sir Fazio Arm Circles, Plank Jacks, Mountain Climbers and, of course, Merkins. BH Benchmark Day!

8/17/17 YHC decided that since no pounds have been shed in about 4 months, there has to be another way to measure my F3 fitness quotient…. WARM-UP On this fine August morning the 19 PAX headed west on Hunter St to the Bladestone Ct parking lot for a little stretching and warm-up. A few SSH, merkins, calf stretches and good mornings was all we needed (no arm circles today boys…). [Read More]

Don't Sandbag Me Bro

Welcome to Day 2 of the Back-to-Back Beaker Beatdown (B4 [TM]). I want to let you in on a little secret. I typically sign up to Q with an idea already in mind. Like, “Wouldn’t it be fun to carry five gallons of water around and then hop on a sled pulled by my fellow PAX?” But, when I was perusing the F3Carpex website looking at Q sheets last Friday, I noticed a glaring hole at SNS this coming week, so I jumped on it. The Whole 30

YHC rolled into Bradford’s Ordinary at 0525, pumped and ready to Make It A Great Thursday by starting his day off with another PAX-filled running of the 2nd Inaugural #MeowMile (a “fully sanctioned” and federally trademarked BO/Carpex EC event). At 0530, YHC became thoroughly confused when nary a PAX was in sight. Not a one. Was this the end of the #MeowMile tradition? The final chapter of a dynasty? YHC gathered his self-confidence and set off by his lonesome for Cary’s Little Cuba. [Read More]

Brought to you by the letter B

YHC was dismayed last Friday to learn that the one day I was taking off last week was the day F3Carpex went burpee crazy, and I missed all the fun. Fortunately I had the next Dante’s Peak Q and an opportunity to help make #burpeefriday a thing. Warm-up Mosey to the circle for side stradle hopes, burpees (the best warm-up exercise), imperial walkers, merkins and mountain climbers. Thang 1 Mosey over to the basketball courts, count off by fours, each group takes a corner. [Read More]

Merkins, Murph, Burpees.

Is there really more I need to say? I guess maybe that there were some LBCs and Freddie Mercuries sprinkled in, or that Large Mouth runs like an antelope out of control, or that my co-site Q Shank made the most amazing shovel flag ever (complete with hand-created camouflage), or that same said co-site Q provided the 20 PAX brave enough to post at FMJ with Gatorade and camo F3 koozies, or that Khakis did his best Grease Monkey impression by lacing up at 0530 on the nose.
