The Gloom is Gone

I was looking forward to navigating Carpex’s gloomiest AO, but alas, we had 70° at 5:30, a light breeze, and an early sunrise that I suppose we need to get used to! After walking the course down, some quick stretching to the tunes of Hi-Liter’s youth, and a fruitless FNG check, we disclaimed and set out down Park Village Dr. Pause at the clubhouse for: GM // Merkins IC // IW [Read More]

You never forget your first time

…that’s kind of true, but when in doubt just reference the backblast. On May 10th, 2017 a dude named Dice showed up to SNS on the invite of his buddy Jamie. It was weird because all the guys were calling him “Repeato,” never the less, on a brisk (to me at the time) 54 degree morning I logged my first Carpex beatdown at the hands of a one “Earhart.” Hello Kitty was born and I’ve mildly gravitated to F3 activities… [Read More]

AND Back in the Saddle

Whew, it’s been a while! YHC did have one random Hells Bells Q during my extended stay on the IR but today’s Q definitely puts me back in the saddle. There was a great crowd of 17 pax to welcome YHC back in and a nice cool breeze ta boot. Back in January listening to the F3 podcast it was suggested that all of our workouts start with the disclaimer. Everytime. [Read More]

Still doing it Downtown Cary F3 Style

It was a big day in downtown Cary as 24 PAX gathered to celebrate the 4th anniversary of the premier downtown AO in Carpex. It was also conveniently enough YHC’s 4th anniversary in F3. Unfortunately, my co-FNGs on that faithful day, Ma Bell (traveling), Baby Face (moving), and Lab Rat (never to be seen again) were unavailable to join in the festivities. To honor the day and the OGQ Wonk (who did make a rare appearance in the gloom), we decided to pay homage to the first (yet to be named) BO workout. [Read More]

Imperial Death March, DZ style

15 stormtroopers marched on Danger Zone this morning, destroying the rebel alliance…otherwise known as our shoulders. In concelebration of May the Fourth, YHC spun up a beatdown complete with Star Wars flavored fun. Under a bright moon and the glow of light sabers, we welcomed an FNG, Pete, and dutifully recited the disclaimer. And then the fun began… Of course, the first warmup move of any respectable May the Fourth workout has to be…Imperial Walkers. [Read More]

4/24/18: Let my inspiration flow..

YHC was feeling a little slow this morning, which usually means a ruck. But he was also feeling a bit sore in places important for rucking, so in the end, the fartsack won. If you haven’t been to BroGa over at NCMA on Monday mornings, it’s a nice change-of-pace. YHC has been an occasional participant along with CK. It’s a good way to recover from a long run on the weekend. [Read More]

A-Team 4/23/18: Day 1 -- The 1960'S

The week of Smokey begins with the music of the 1960’s. Aretha Franklin, The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and many more joined us in the gloom for a sand bag work out. We started with a brief run up to the parking lot for warm ups. Apparently, YHC was filled with Q-drenaline and Hot Spot had to catch up with him on the run to let him know he had left everyone else behind. Jump Set Spike Rock

As Friday morning rolled around and my soreness from the SNS Q still sang its sweet chords up and down my quads, glutes and hamstrings, I realized that today may not be a good day for excessive leg work. A few of my fellow SNS PAX quickly agreed - thanks for the nudge Liverpool and Chanticleer. Luckily I was not without any ideas having pre-blasted some volleyball action at the DZ sand court.
