BRR preview run

Team principal Hotspot has stoked the fire of our BRR crew. Since YHC is still getting back in the groove after an overheat at Phoenix, a prudent decision to avoid the Maynard, and an open Q at Vesper, proved a good coincidence. Unlike the last time, where batons, vests, lights, and other paraphernalia were employed, I kept it simple. Bring back the batons, forget the rest. After a brisk Insomnia, there was definitely some Q shopping going on. [Read More]

We came, we exercised, we relocated rocks, we wrote our backblast

It was good to Q at ol’ FOD this morning - had been a while. A strong crowd of 28 gathered - including Kilmer in a Cabriolet (back in my day - only sorority girls drove those)….. hmmm. Oh well - follow me - YHC said softly and started running up the parking lot through the dark path and up the road to the mailbox. Once there, we circled up for GM x18, IW x 14, HB x 12, SF Arm Circles - 10 each way, 10 seal claps and 10 overhead claps. [Read More]

More than just a workout (Carpex Convergence)

Truth be told, YHC is feeling some pressure on this BB. But, in the words of a sage Carpex veteran: “Keep it vanilla and Q to the site.” - Carman Liuzzo, 57, Burt Wednesday, June 20th, will go down as an EPIC day in Carpex history. The menu looked like this: 0430 - 0500 HIMs launching for the 10.7 mile Maynard loop (14 by YHC’s count) 0505 HIMs launching for Insomnia, YHC on the route Q 0545 HIMs gather for SNS + Tortoises + Vesper convergence at Bond Park 0630 COT with 77 strong, followed by 2nd/3rd F fellowship and Chinese Downhill sharing this powerful and emotional story. Back on the wagon....

Hard to believe - we are here- June 4, 2018 and YHC has not Q’d in 2018 (other than vesper). This from a guy that averaged close to 1x per week in 2017. Oh well, off the horse and here we go. Step 1 - on your 6 - Have a nice day. This was a not so subtle dig at the site Qs that moved their AO start time to 5:30. [Read More]

They lock the baseball fields when it rains

It was your typical Wednesday Morning Buffet. Several arrived early for a little Insomnia appetizer. The Ruckers and the Vespers all grabbed their food to go, and the rest of the SNS crowd dined heavily on Turkish Get Ups, Bropees and Absolution. With some Twerkins for dessert. And although we didn’t start with a Good Morning (sorry Nature Boy) we did end with a Have a Nice day. And a new word was created. [Read More]

Callahanniversary IV

Four years ago I found myself clinging to the fence surrounding Goose Poop Island at Pullen Park quietly vomiting into the pond. The 58 minutes leading up to that point had been brutal. Double 11’s with Dips, Dirkens, L/R Step-ups, and Box jumps. A bevy of sprints. Bear crawls for two miles. Partner carries. Pull-ups. It all culminated at the Island, where all the other PAX were doing Mary and I was doing my best to not die. [Read More]
