Midsummer's AMRAP + 1

After what looked to be a great evening of 2nd F on a Midsummer’s eve many of the PAX were operating on High Octane fuel. A fuel they would call upon about halfway through the morning as there were digging deep on an AMRAP + 1. 0520 ECP - YHC, WWW, GTL, Red Rider, Frisco continued our quest to get bigger, stronger and faster at the pull-up one repetition at a time. Back to school

YHC picked up the Q for July the 5th as a replacement for missing my birthday Q a few weeks back due to IR. I did not account for the post 4th of July hangover being fully present. Never mind, great way to start the morning. Expecting a light crowd, pleasantly surprised to see 12 other HIMs show up (14 total counting YHC and of course my side kick). At 5:45 sharp, we did a warm up jog around the short loop back to the skate park for warm up. [Read More]

Stolen Typewriter

Roll into the Sovereign Grace Church parking lot and there’s already a lot of activity. Some of the PAX are finishing up their EC pull-ups, and we’ve got a clown car from South Wake. YHC has just enough time to place cones in the parking lot, and it’s time to go. Warm-Up Mosey down to the bottom of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, plank jacks and Sir Fazios. [Read More]

Kettle Bell Audible

Air was thick this morning but it was a great morning to put in some kettle bell work. We met at the new location on the other side of the park closer to the pull-up bars. As everyone was showing up, I started counting and we ended up with a total of 18 HIMs ready for a workout. I started to panic because the original workout I devised was for about our average 6-10 HIMs. [Read More]

When it rains on the Hell’s Bell’s, the workout moves into the shelter (who wants to swing around a wet kettlebell). And man was it hot and humid, even at oh-dark-30. Katniss coming in hot, guess he didn’t pay the toll. We head out and down to our favorite circle for: [Read More]

Vanilla

There have been a lot of requests for vanilla workouts recently, so YHC set out to devise a workout with no sprinkles, no whipped cream, no cherry on top, just straight vanilla. Warm-Up Mosey over to the community center parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, standard merkins, plank jacks and squats. The Thang Line up at the first island for double sevens. Run to the far island and do twelve merkins, run back and do two squats. [Read More]

How not to make friends, by FNG Cataracts (that's plural)

The day before my Q at Hell’s Bells I asked the site Qs if running was discouraged. Neither Monkey Nut or Earhart responded, so I naturally assumed that meant running was a great idea. It’s not. I was instantly berated with a verbal assault from the first step. However, sticking to my plan, the later runs actually became a nice break from the punishing kettle bell workout we were experiencing. Crimson even thanked me for running and volunteered to run more if that meant he didn’t have to pick up his KB again. [Read More]

Against the Wind

YHC asked about the Dante’s Peak mileage record last week. An innocent question, and not expected to turn into a thing. But since Sooey had the Q the week before me, he took it as a challenge and ran us 3.3 miles. Now it’s up to YHC to top that. Let’s see how we did. Warm-Up Mosey over to end of the parking lot and circle up for side straddle hops, hillbillies, copperhead squats, planks jacks and copperhead merkins. [Read More]
