Sound the ALARMs

6 pax made it out to Rush Hour, the finest place to be on any given Tuesday evening. YHC made it out a little early to scout out a couple of obscure places. So as the start closed in, everyone had gathered to do a little stretching, as Press On got in some pullups. Once 6:00 hit, a disclaimer was given, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited, and we were off! [Read More]

The Dragon's Tail (or is that tale?)

Luckily, YHC was in bed by 10:00, so plenty of rest before the Q at SNS. But, it was a long day. It was my day to home school my two girls so the M could work. After dominating the Letterland lesson, we crushed counting to 100 by fives and tens. I was mentally exhausted. YHC did rebound for science and P.E., and then, in the spirit of my kids missing being at school, cooked up some droopy square pizza for lunch. [Read More]

Field of Drunk rocks

YHC’s Q tour continues. Ain’t gonna lie… I have a love/hate relationship with the Q sheet. Love the fact that I can snag some quality spots last minute. Wouldn’t mind it being a little more difficult. Get out there and grab a spot. You will love it. The PAX may love it. I may not love it but that’s ok. Warm up During the EC (see NMS for more on that) I noticed that the rock pile near the flag is a bit low on small-sized rocks. [Read More]

Second Verse Same as the First

As Pickles always says “Preparation H is key”. So to impress my junior site Q I made sure my weinke was laid out by my keys last night. Driving in to Claymore I felt great, I was back out in the Gloom, I had successfully Q-ed HB yesterday with a modified version of one of my COVID lockdown workouts, and I was heading to the premier limited run AO in Carpex on a Tuesday. A Way Back

Today was my second day back in the Gloom and my first day Q-ing in it. I had stayed strong during the lockdown virtually posting with Traffic Cone 4-5 times a week. The rest of our shield lock fell off or went back to the gloom over time but we held strong until Memorial Day. After a pretty grueling Q before the holiday I decided to take a rest day. And that was when the wheels finally fell off. [Read More]

Six.

All I could think Saturday morning while car after car pulled into the lot: Six years and I can still draw a crowd. Let’s get it. 23 gloomwarriors joined YHC on a beautiful Saturday morning at Fred G. Bond Park in the heart of Cary, NC. Temp was right around 65 degrees, humidity was maxed out. One minute prior to setting off, I scanned the crowd for an unfamiliar face. Nada. [Read More]

Time May Change Kryptonite, but you can't change Kryptonite

Oofta and YHC were especially amped for Kryptonite today, because we were the lucky two who get to take the SiteQ responsibilities for the next…ummm, how long is it? Denali and Wonderbread conveniently left that part out. The EC was on, because, well, who doesn’t want to run with the Beige Bros before a 3 mile minimum high tempo workout. We rolled back in to the launch lot with maybe 12 seconds to spare, the PAX gathered, no FNGs, we said the pledge and off we went…. [Read More]

Are we still writing backblasts?

Hello, and welcome to Fastest Friday AO in Carpex! The site that never shut down. Where mileage records are set and asterisks are badges of honor. YHC put forth his best marketing campaign he could to reQruit our native #beardedmillennial but with the Covid15 around his waste, Fortnight at his fingers, and a warm and dry fartsack YHC received word this morning at 0830 he “didn’t hear the alarms.” And he’s “sorry man”. Putting the Danger in Dangerzone

The weather Friday was definitely going to play havoc on YHC’s plans. Lots and lots of rain was called for. Even the stalwarts were Slacking (presumably from the safety of their thrones) their concerns come 5AM. I had had all kinds of musical plans in the works! Well, weather be damned. We were going to at least Bring Sally Up! Checking my Weather app and seeing a short break in the deluge at 520, I put on my shoes and booked for the welcoming embrace of North Cary Park a bit early. Who the heck is Rainbow Larry?

When I woke up and heard the thunder and rain I didn’t even flinch. I just rolled out of bed and continued my morning routine. I knew it was going to be wet. I just hoped the Q, Rainbow Larry would keep us relatively dry in the case of a downpour. Luckily Dantes Peak has a nice Pavilion with benches. When YHC finally pulled into the AO I noticed Cheddar Bo had unlocked the gates. [Read More]
