The Very First Time…

It was my first Q and it was 5:10. I saw headlights start streaming into the parking lot and I started feeling a bit nervous. Just recently through Hermes Q School, I knew I was prepared. Fourteen PAX and one FNG Sunshine (son of Intervention) assembled by the flag. I mumbled the disclaimer, mission and then we recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Off we went with a short mosey across the street to the far end of the parking lot. [Read More]

Nantan Notes 06-2020

WE’RE BACK! Right? I know I’ve said it within the past week. Our daily numbers are almost averaging where we were in January/February. But we’re not back. After posting 5 out of 6 days last week (#humblebrag) YHC can say we’re back only using the metric of our daily attendance (and our mumblechatter). Besides having 75-100 guys posting each day we are lacking in some areas and it’s my job to hold us accountable…so here comes some tough love. [Read More]

Sunrise over New Hampshire

Had lots of concepts and ideas in mind for Wolverine this morning but decided to keep it simple this morning. Warm-up / Thang / Mary: We ran from Davis Drive Park to Bond Park stopping every now and then for exercises which may or may not have included irkins. Once in Bond Park we did a coupon set of curls, rock rows, tricep extensions and overhead presses (15x each) with five burpees in between. [Read More]

Beat, but worth it.

Not sure if anyone reads the backblast any longer, but it is important to document what went down this morning at Dazed and Confused at Apex Community Park. YHC and Crimson arrived around 5:24 and found a light crowd. Hanson, Mohawk, and Revere came in from a jog around the lake and we found Bubba and then Kiwk Stop. With about 90 seconds to spare, Two Factor arrives from him OYO EC run. [Read More]

DDay +76 years

AO: Phoenix Date: 6 June 2020 QIC: Wrench PAX: 1-4, Big Red, Callahan, Cataracts, Defib, Earhart, Gump, Hipster, Huckleberry, Kermit, Kwik Stop, Side Out, Sooey, Texas Ranger, Wrench, WWW 6 June 1944, 0630 American forces land on Omaha Beach. These men had what was deemed an impossible mission, with only one possible outcome: succeed. Being a history buff, seeing this date open, knowing that the hill is there at Phoenix, and knowing some about that invasion, a workout in honor of those brave men that day, many years ago, was the least I could do. National Donut Day!

Over the last few months, when workouts were scarce to find, typically there was always one at SWW. After posting here a handful of times, YHC felt comfortable enough with the AO to get on the Q sheet even though it’s outside of his normal stomping grounds. I pulled in with a couple minutes to spare as the EC crowd was getting toweled off and ready for the beatdown. Bagels got in his car and left so I figured he just didn’t have time to stick around for the ME. [Read More]

Journey to the top of the Deck

AO: Bradford’s Ordinary QIC: Wrench Date: 4 June 2020 PAX: Callahan, Captain Kirk, Press On, Flenderson, Riptide, Sosa, McCants, Kwik Stop, Wrench Tank top Thursday is upon us. Press On called it out on Slack, so I must follow. Digging through my workout clothes I realized that I don’t own a tank top (feels Ma Bell give the stink eye from across the interwebs) But it’s good, Press On wore enough tank tops to cover most of the PAX. Katowice meets Bialystok

Pierogi Q tour continues with a return visit to the West Side. Pulled in around 5:20, shoes still on the passenger seat, with Sky Blue sliding into his regular spot just in front of me. As I leisurely put one shoe on and then the other, I notice the Flying Circus founder is getting agitated. He’s bouncing around like I’m holding him back from something. And as I tighten my laces and put the keys in the regular hiding spot, the man is literally running away from me down the parking lot. [Read More]

Snip'n with Disaster

Twenty PAX (I missed a few names above…) made it out to FWD for a VQ to be remembered. As a recent graduate of HQS (Hermes Q School), I felt mentally and emotionally prepared for the twists and turns that could spring upon a Q on a Tuesday morning in the FWD gloom. Kicked it off on-time with the Pledge and off we went. Class Picture Warm up Jog the hill up and around to the Lowes Food parking lot: [Read More]
