What is Frisco's name on slack today?

FYI Bartman, this is a 5:45 start AO and not 5:30. FYI Frisco, this is a 5:45 start AO and not 5:46. I apologize for all of the Frisco attention in this one. He attempted to start a brotherly quarrel on Slack between Water Wings and me a day before the workout. Mosey behind the bathroom building to hide from Frisco who showed up late, but he found us anyways. Then continued the mosey to the left lot for warm-ups. [Read More]

Last year I was out of town on my birthday, so this year I planned early and signed up for the Q slot for A-Team months ago. Little did I know how different the world would be over the past few months. I am thankful we are able to get out each morning, support each other, and move our bodies! Here is what went down today: Arrived a bit early, Crimson was complaining that I had him leave a few minutes earlier than normal but it was great to meet the PAX as the arrived. [Read More]

Happy Trails

About a year ago, Hermes led the PAX on a now-legendary Q down a narrow dirtbike trail that runs parallel to Highway 1. Hermes took the group all the way south to the Dairy Queen on Ten Ten. I got to thinking: what happens if you headed north on that trail instead? I saw the Q slot was open for Kryptonite, so I grabbed it. I ran the route twice over the weekend. [Read More]

Classic TV Land

I may have shared this before (probably with Cally for a The Muggo bit) so pardon the repetition. When I came to the US at seven years old, I knew somewhere between one and four words of English and my parents were only moderately more fluent. Lucky for me, this is a great country with great people, great teachers and great institutions of learning. And even greater television. I am pretty sure between the fall of 1983 and the summer of 1985, I watched 2,148 hours of television. [Read More]

Last one at 40!

YHC had originally signed Two Factor up to Q this morning, but he was still recovering from his back hurting so it was only appropriate for YHC to lead. Today was my last F3 workout in my 40s since my birthday is right around the corner. Without a great plan in mind for today, it worked out pretty well. Everyone seemed to get their money’s worth! Gather at the flag, disclaimer for the FNG, quick pledge, and off we go! [Read More]

We can. We must.

I’ve done quite a few overnight ruck events. More than most, not as many as some. Each one has been different in its challenges and lessons. With that in mind, it was with great curiosity that I shadowed the D-Day Tough event in Sanford, NC June 5-6, 2020. Yes, 2020. The year of the pandemic. Of unanticipated challenges and lessons. Of unforeseen modifications. Of uncertainty and trepidation. What would all this mean for the ruck event? [Read More]

Everyone gets a Trophy.

There was some extra incentive for outstanding performances at Rush Hour. Since YHC was left out of the awards in the Hill Climb Mafia (I still can’t believe I didn’t get a sticker or anything), I thought the Rush Hour PAX could use some disingenuous recognition. So trophies were presented. Everyone went home feeling good, whether they deserved it or not. There was no pizza party or orange slices after, but 2 stopped at Bond Brothers for a reward. It's not the size of the rock that matters

Weather forecast for this morning was not looking good. And Claymore is one of those AO where options for hiding from the elements are limited. Unless you want to hang out under a tree. There are lots of those. I guess the dugouts technically work but then you have to worry about social distancing and how to do you split the PAX up. And there’s a bathroom. But it’s locked. And speaking of splitting PAX up… just don’t want to go there. [Read More]
