"Grundel to the Ground"

Well its both hard to believe its only been a year and hard to believe a year has gone by. Having been while since I’ve Q’d, I decided to pick up Dante’s Peak for my F3 Anniversary. I arrived a little early to sort out and finalize my plans with a short EC around the site getting in a few pull-ups and scaring something that sounded larger than it should have been in the woods by the amphitheater (or did it scare me? Balls and Diamonds

YHC got late notice on Monday from Frisco that he was isolating due to possible COVID exposure, so he would not be able to Q. YHC’s Qs had been in a rut of late: Dora, Sevens, blah… wanted to do something different this time and given the short notice, would be doing so more or less on the fly. Seven PAX at the start in a damp, but well-lit Claymore parking lot. [Read More]

Orpheus in the Underworld

Build-a-Bear relinquished his Q yesterday. I assume he built a submarine, so that he could run up and down the continental shelf. YHC was glad to step in. 2 for EC (Oofta and Staubach) and 2 for 10-Mile ECME (Lookout and Chops). Mosey the long way to Lowes Foods parking lot. Warm-Up. Lots of stretching, inspired by (our boy) Bluewater last week. Thing 1: Santa’s Ladder From the Exicon: “Pick a spot in the distance. [Read More]

Peace Disturbed

Its been a long time since I wrote a back blast. I think I have skipped writing one for the last 5-6 times I’ve Q’d. With trying to keep track of Pax attending workouts I better write this out to keep us all safe. So I’m going to keep this simple too. Standard warmup/stretching in Apex PD parking lot. Mosey to bottom of hill and partner up. Time for some Catch me if you can. [Read More]

Swinging Pipes

Beautiful crisp morning. YHC always trying to mix it up a bit and try new things and working to incorporate more stretching and mobility to keep me of the IR . Most of the Warmama was using PVC Pipes to get upper body loose for the Merkins and Pull Ups that awaited the PAX. Some liked it, some looked confused. BRR Training 2021???

So it’s been a little while since YHC last Qed. Before BRR actually. Apparently I was still in BRR training mode when I devised the plan for today. That, coupled with how sore YHC is from back to back days of Iron Pax and low mileage for this point in the week I guess. Sorry to those that decided to follow me out there today, but hopefully you felt as though you received a proper beat down. [Read More]

Music Delete

The best plans often go astray. Today was a lesson in adapting to a failure in my pre-blast: I planned Music, Merkins, and Mumblechatter. Good on two of those. A recent Andriod 11 update rendered my usual music playing app useless. In hindsight I should have tested this the night before. Lesson learned. The PAX were disappointed by the silence. I tried to figure out how to stretch the workout because I planned a nice, new thang to a song. [Read More]

Searching for Bradford's Ordinary

Yesterday YHC did some research on Bradford’s Ordinary…the town. If you’ve been around Carpex a little while you’ve probably been asked “why is it called Bradford’s Ordinary?” so I thought maybe we could take a stroll to the historic site of BO and get our learn on… Well it doesn’t exist. In the 1700s there was an Inn owned by John Bradford called Bradford’s Ordinary and so this area was just called Bradford’s Ordinary. [Read More]
