Sevens Three Ways

Site Q Sooey had promised 57 degrees this morning, and he was off by about 13 degrees, so 13 vets and 1 FNG had to deal with an Angry Duck Warm-Up Mosey to the Christmas tree in beautiful downtown Apex and circle up for a few warm-up exercises, including Good Mornings from Crimson. The Thang Mosey around the corner to the T-intersection next to the Methodist church and split into three groups. [Read More]

Last day of 2020...

So today is December 31st, so naturally the last day of the year 2020. What a year it’s been, to say the least. I figured what better way to Q the first workout of the last day of 2020 than to use it as a theme. I decided to do 20 reps of 20 exercises in a 4 corners situation. Here’s what we did: Warmup: YHC and 7 Pax at the flag (almost) at 0515 on an extra gloomy day. [Read More]

2nd to Last Day

We’re almost there!! This was my only second time posting at Point Break (I hung onto the edge of the magic carpet that is running EC with Lookout and then bailed for SNS one other time), but the spot was open this weekend, so the JP as imminent South-Caryite Q tour had an opportunity to continue. Can’t pass that up. Adjacent rolled up at 5:20 (stronnnnnng move by the site Qsee correction*), followed by 4 others. [Read More]

Cancel culture calls on Claymore

YHC signed up for the Claymore Q on Sunday. It’s a fun AO with some of the world’s heaviest rocks. And a great place to give the feet a bit of a rest. It also has some of CARPEx’s most worldly site-Qs, some of whom are known to be so busy that they barely make it to the AO on time most days. So it was not a surprise that there were more ladies in the parking lot at 5:40AM than there were representatives of CARPEx’s finest. [Read More]

Pee-wee's Big Adventure

Weather: clear, brisk 29 degrees. Scene at 5:43 a.m.: 16 dudes gathered around (a couple even performed Insomnia before the Main Event). YHC was standing in the center of the circle on his used-new Flip Flop door mat gifted from Burt. One of the 16 dudes was FNG Anthony, EH’d by Captain Kirk, who rode in on his 10 speed. There stood FNG Anthony; holding a water bottle, and dressed very warmly in 4 layers up top, and 3 layers down low (as you would if you just biked in 29 degree weather). [Read More]

HONORed

It was a cold December day, just above freezing, when I pulled into the parking lot of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in Apex. A few PAX were in their vehicles keeping warm, a few out moving around the parking lot doing I know not what. The kettle bells were not out of their container yet, so with TrackStar’s help we pulled more than enough bells out for the 11 PAX that came out to join me in the gloom. [Read More]

Team Throck

The following email was sent out on December 14th updating us on Russ (Grease Monkey) Throckmorton’s famlies’ status on their move to South Africa that was scheduled for August. Are we there yet? So are we there yet? No, we aren’t but we are getting closer. Since October 1st, (when the borders reopened in South Africa to foreigners) we have been hustling to gather and submit the necessary documents. We started the process for three different visas hoping one of them would get us in country. 12 Days of Schlitz-mas part deux

YHC had wanted to Q his home site at some point in the next few weeks. After 15 miles at Oakwood 24 over the weekend I was only 4 miles short of 1000 miles for the year. I didn’t want to leave it to chance so I jumped on the Q sheet to make sure I got enough mileage to hit 1k. Well, it’s Christmas week so why not pull back out last year’s FMJ 12 Days of Christmas. It Gets Harder as it Gets Easier

As I’ve been saying for a while now, I think I got spoiled by the seemingly extended warm weather we had this year. Cause now you can really notice the cold thats here now. This was certainly the case this past Tuesday as YHC ventured out to Q Field of Dreams. Which was the last of the different Tues/Thurs workouts I had planned to Q this year! 19 Pax in total made it out to the site, though the runners were already long gone by the time the bootcamp began.
