The Wave of Cool Weather

I went to bed Tuesday night hearing on the news that Wednesday AM would be glorious. The weather reporters were correct and we had amazing low 60’s for the starting temp and no humidity. Arriving a bit early for a personal EC, I returned to see a gaggle of HIM eagerly awaiting the start. With no FNGs and a short disclaimer, we did The Pledge Mozy up the street to large parking lot for warmups Good Mornings SSH Sir Fazio - fwd/bck Overhead Claps Seal Claps Runners Stretch - both sides. Cougars are too young for pearls

EC: ran down the street to a geocache I had driven to a few times previously but which was always surrounded by people waiting for the dermatologist to open or let them in or whatever. Thankfully the parking lot was empty at a quarter past 5. Logged my cache and ran back, taking a slight detour to inspect the site. Five PAX gathered, including two guys I had not met before. Peaches & The Giant Winkie

Welp… YHC has been in town now for 3 months, so it was due time to stop making excuses and get to Q’ing. At this point, I’ve had the privilege to meet most of ya in the gloom. If we’ve mumblechattered together, you probably have heard a few things that I do and don’t like when called by a Q. 1. I hate bearcrawling 2. I’m a fan of a good winkie [Read More]

Starting 11

Who would have imagined how closely today’s Hell’s Bells would mirror Poland’s sorry game against what should have been a lowly Slovakia? But I suppose it was meant to be when the work out proceeded in a manner so similar to the game itself. Here’s how it went down. Pre-game: National anthems were sung and close-ups of millionaires mouthing the words were shown. Most of those on the pitch were born-and-bread representatives of their countries but, much like the Portuguese coach of the Polish team, some are foreign born. [Read More]

Mexican Slayride*

It snuck up on me, but my 6-year anniversary of my first post is 6/15. I first posted at A-Team, at the urging of Hotspot, way back in 2015. You know he can be convincing… Crazy busy schedule these last few days, with 2.0 Zip Drive wrapping up his high school career, and all the celebrations that signal the end of one phase, and the beginning of another. But I saw that A-Team was Q-less, and, even with all the crazy in my life right now, could NOT pass up a chance to see if I could pull off another themed Q there. [Read More]

No Respect Monday

The crowd at Kryptonite this morning is trending to the younger side. We don’t even have Term Paper, although he is apparently identifying as a teenager these days. Thank goodness Staubach showed up or I might be the oldest guy here. A half dozen or so arrive early to run around for the EC while I arrive early to figure out exactly what we are going to be doing this fine morning. Soggy but Cool

AO: Wolverine Workout Date: 06/14/21 YHC had some ideas for today, but when site Q Build-a-Bear reached out about a prerun and/or AO overview, I took him up on the offer. I was on the fence about doing the Number of the Beast again. I didn’t want to repeat myself if any Phoenix PAX showed, and I had considered bringing back Rack Em Stack Em. Should we stay in the park, or head over to Davis Drive Middle? [Read More]

¡Three FNGos!

AO: Phoenix Workout Date: 06/12/21 YHC has posted Phoenix (or maybe it was Werewolf), but it has obviously been a while. The starting parking lot was a lot smaller than I remembered and there were a large number of PAX, including three FNGs. Time to start modifying the plan. Warm Up: State the mission, check for FNGs (3), and give the disclaimer Side Straddle Hop x20 In Cadence (IC) Good Morning x5 IC [Read More]

3 Months Away

We are officially three months away from BRR, and YHC isn’t in shape for that at the moment. Time to get to work. And on this insanely muggy morning we have 22 other HIMs with the same idea. One of them is not Francois, who is ducking this thing despite being a Site Q. No FNGs, although Free Solo is apparently back for workout #2. Pledge. A short mosey to the side parking lot and circle up for a warm up. [Read More]

Everything that needed to be said was already said

This BB is superfluous so it will be short. Everything that needed to be said about Friday’s #DazedAndConfused Q was said beautifully by @LuckyCharms on slack. So this is merely a placeholder to document the PAX present and to pass out a quick praise. Warm-up: lap and typically warm up stuff Thang 1: animal related moves up the grassy knoll (bear crawls… gorilla hops… duck walks) with stuff at the top [Read More]
