OG Bootcamp

With all the training for the BRR, I need more bootcamp in my life. The pythons are looking a little sickly (not in the good millenial phrasing way) and I may be a little loose in the cage. This week has been all about more balanced workout - and less miles. So when the chance to Q arguably the greatest AO location in all of Carpex popped up, I jumped all over it and decided to deliver an OG style bootcamp. [Read More]

One thing leads to another...

Funny how we get set in our ways, and fail to see the world around us sometimes. With 90 pax away at BRR this past weekend (and me not one of them for far too long), I planned to attend the Raleigh (shudder) 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, on this 20th anniversary of that terrible event. I was planning to go, taking my 15-year old 2.1 DeNiro, and wanted to represent Carpex with a shovel flag that had NOT traveled to the mountains. [Read More]

5 Years of F3 Sn2Fe Style

As many eye rolls and sighs of exasperation YHC received last night for, arguably, emphasizing the “DA” in HIDA with this Q, it was gonna happen. Not to get all sappy with y’all but there is very little I can say I have been doing - and loving - for five years and running. Yes, the 1st brings us out but truly it is the 2nd that keeps us coming … and growing … and building off each other. [Read More]

9/3/21 SWW 4 year anniversary

24 total PAX. Pineapple and Chops were not there, even though they clicked the HC button. I assume they know what HC stands for. Half was there. I assume Burt told him he should go. Lookout ran a bunch of miles so we would quit asking him how he felt and was there for COT. It was a glorious 57 degrees on the Trusty Tundra Thermometer. Spectacular relief from the recent sweatfests. [Read More]

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

And it was ushered in by perfect gloom temps of approximately 68 degrees. For the PAX who decided to wake up this morning and head to the most galactic of AOs in all of Carpex this side of Tatooine, not only were they greeted with amazing weather, they got to start their day with a beatdown of collegiate football caliber (kind of). After all, with college football kicking off today, it was only fitting (and YHC always leads at least 2 football-themed beatdowns per season to commemorate summer camp season and kickoff). New 3rd F - It Takes Two (ITT)

“If you watched a movie about a guy who wanted a Volvo and worked for years to get it, you wouldn’t cry at the end when he drove off the lot, testing the windshield wipers. You wouldn’t tell your friends you saw a beautiful movie or go home and put a record on to think about the story you’d seen. The truth is, you wouldn’t remember that movie a week later, except you’d feel robbed and want your money back. [Read More]

3rdF - INTENTIONAL PARENTING Study Group

5-Week Study: 10 Ways to be an Exceptional Parent in a “Quick Fix” World. I feel like time is running out and I’m not parenting with the urgency I should have. I don’t want to get my kids off to college and then look back and think my intentions were good but my effort was lackluster. So I need a spark and I found this guide through church and I need some accountability and guys to go all in with me so we can encourage and support one another. [Read More]

No Run is Limited Run

YHC decided to embrace the limited run mantra completely with a zero-run workout. Movement between Thangs was done at a walking pace and only long enough to slightly drop HR. Warm up was a fairly standard one: Good Morning, Side Straddle Hop, Down Dog, Sir Fazio, Windmill, Hillbilly, Calf Stretch Thang 1: PAX all circle up, and an “active” and “active recovery” exercise are called. Ascending ladder of 1-2-3-4 reps of the active exercise, one PAX at a time, moving around the circle. [Read More]

Al Carmichael & College Football Trivia

Albert Reinhold Carmichael, for whom this Q was named, was an American football player whom “holds the distinction of scoring the first touchdown in American Football League history…”[1] 12 men gathered in the gloom on Friday, Aug 20th at Dazed and Confused to pay tribute via two Al Carmichael-themed exercises. The group convened, heard the F3 mission and disclaimer, and recited the pledge. Warm up: Brief mosey, Good Mornings, Sir Fazzios, Reverse-Fazzios, Michael Phelps OYO, Imperial Walkers, and Side Straddle Hops. [Read More]

328

Somehow lured into Q-ing by Crimson, I warned him that I had no time to plan, but would step up anyway. I had some music (Classic Rock including Bob Seger) and a couple of ideas from the 327 other posts I have had. This was a Happy Vaxxers pop-up AO, designed to keep safe a couple of PAX who we know are going under the knife in the coming days. If you’re vaxxed, you’re welcome to attend. [Read More]
