Time Flys.

Over the past five years, my life has undergone a remarkable transformation since “joining” F3. It all began with a chance encounter in my neighborhood, where I was minding my own business, on a walk on one of the greenways when a stranger approached, asking if I was with them. Perplexed, I inquired, “Who are you?” He hastily explained what F3 was, and as I headed home after my walk that morning, where I couldn’t shake off the feeling that it might be some sort of cult! Gamehendge

This is the first time the full Gamehendge has been completed in CARPEX since July 1994 and while no backblast exists of that last beatdown, most PAX consider it one of the classics of the exicon. WARMUP: TMWSIY mosey as we search for Colonel Forbin and the door to Gamehedge. The music was pulsating so the pace was high and so were we. We found a gate and pushed through, down past the gazebo, avoiding the Multibeasts. [Read More]

26 @ 23

26 men congregated in the 23 degree temps at Carpex’s Shakin’ Not Stirred this morning. With the cold temps, YHC tried to pull up Dredd’s chart recommended clothing for a bootcamp, but couldn’t find it, and clearly the PAX didn’t consult the chart either—-everything from no shirts, to short sleeves, to full Sherpa, and everything in between. Speaking of Dredd, when he and OBT envisioned F3, I’m not so sure they had what Carpex has become as the paragon model…. [Read More]

GrowRuck 44: The Eleventh Hour

RALLY: We got to the rally and delivered our 3rdF donations while observing a trailer of telephone poles. Wonder what those could be for? YHC was amped up at the rally and just wanted to get into the ruck. It was good to meet the cadre and trainers, in advance, and hear them speak about the event and the expectations. I think it was here at the rally that I heard something that went through my mind all night, during the ruck, “He who knows his why, can endure almost any how. [Read More]

Let’s Win One For the Oofda

A few weeks back the Peak City Nan’tan politely remarked to the PC site Qs that we were a little “light” on our Q sheets. (And by “politely” I mean in the style of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman from Full Metal Jacket). Not wanting to get any further into the Nan’tan’s bad graces, I reached out to a number of PC PAX. Unfortunately, it’s been slim pickens since we changed Hells Bells to a greased Kettlebell workout (our Injury Recovery AOs needed better attendance). [Read More]

RIP Jimmy. You've got wings that we can't see

Preamble It was 1985 when YHC saw my first Jimmy Buffett concert. Before that, I had been a casual fan. But on that night at Carowinds, I fell in love with the music, the lyrics, the energy, the good times vibe, the lifestyle, the escape his music offered, and the man. I would go on to see him 15 or so (I lost count) more times in places like Carowinds (again), Blossom Music Center near Cleveland, Buckeye Lake near Columbus, PNC Arena - the only time I’ve seen him indoors - and of course, Walnut Creek Amphitheater. Monday at D'wood: Episode 92 of "A Man With No Plan"

Interesting morning, to say the least. We had an FNG who was invited by “Kyle”, but had no idea what Kyle’s last name was. We had a gaggle of SCary PAX, umm, gift us the Ghost Flag? I’m a little lost on the specifics there, but I don’t really care. And evidently, neither does anyone else. Alas, pour Ghost Flag. You had a good run, pal. The PAX circled up at 0530, milling around for another 2 minutes until we started. [Read More]

Burpee Blast

Preamble The title of this backblast has a double entendre given that, yes, we did a lot of burpees, but also because we had a blast doing them. The morning started swimmingly with a nice (but sadly, solo) EC run on the back streets of DTC, dodging downed branches and fencing. Back at the posted start and after a wipedown on McCants’ freshly laundered shirt, 6 gathered for what would be a smallish workout. [Read More]

Welcome FNG Milton

Six for bootcamp. One for self-inflicted pain. 13, including an FNG, for dizzying repeats around the track. Here’s what the campers did: WARMUP: Traditional warmup yog around the back of the school. Met up at the speed bumps by the elementary school for some SSHs, Squats, merkins and stretches to complete the warm up. ME: partner up. Starting from the speed bump, P1 runs the pickle one direction and the P2 goes the other direction. [Read More]

Welcome FNG Soup Cans

The PAX visited the former aerospace parts factory, now elementary school, for a series of AMRAPs & pickle runs. Warm ups were done at the little turn off between the park gate and the school. ME: There is a small pickle and a big pickle at the school. The PAX took turns running first the small pickle … then the big pickle … then the small pickle in groups. Meanwhile the remaining PAX AMRAPed various exercises from merkins, to LBCs, to squats and CCDs. [Read More]
