Pee-wee's Big Adventure

Weather: clear, brisk 29 degrees. Scene at 5:43 a.m.: 16 dudes gathered around (a couple even performed Insomnia before the Main Event). YHC was standing in the center of the circle on his used-new Flip Flop door mat gifted from Burt. One of the 16 dudes was FNG Anthony, EH’d by Captain Kirk, who rode in on his 10 speed. There stood FNG Anthony; holding a water bottle, and dressed very warmly in 4 layers up top, and 3 layers down low (as you would if you just biked in 29 degree weather). [Read More]

OCD is no laughing matter

Aside: Kudos to BRR Team COT on the Quaranteam concept. T-CEPS, even. Driving to #DTP this morning around 5:15, I see one car after another turning in to David Dr Park. “Man, that’s a lot of cars for a team of 12”, thought I. Found out later that a massive run club meets at Wolverine on Tuesday mornings as well. LOL. So much for social distancing… :) But seriously, great initiative. [Read More]

Flessenlikker

Lots of PAX got together this morning at SNS. By COT, the count was 22. Even more went elsewhere. Air Brooks was holding Court down at Point Break, Geek Squad pretended to have a birthday, Headroom continued checking boxes on the CARPEx Challenge and, hell, even Flenderson accidentally clicked into the Q sheet to sign up. But only eight were man enough to take to the diamond though. Having expertly introduced myself to the two PAX I had not previously met (and then promptly forgetting their names until basically COT), it was time for the Pledge as those with muscles only below their waist took off for an advertised 45 minute jog. The Dragon's Tail (or is that tale?)

Luckily, YHC was in bed by 10:00, so plenty of rest before the Q at SNS. But, it was a long day. It was my day to home school my two girls so the M could work. After dominating the Letterland lesson, we crushed counting to 100 by fives and tens. I was mentally exhausted. YHC did rebound for science and P.E., and then, in the spirit of my kids missing being at school, cooked up some droopy square pizza for lunch. [Read More]

New faces and new places in DTC

Standing around the parking lot at the original CARPEx Thursday AO, one of the OGs dropped a bomb: “I hear those boys in Apex are thinking of a separation. With all the growth in Apex, it may be time for them to get their own region” You could hear a pin drop. Sure, these days it seems like a new AO is cropping up on the west side of 55 every other week and Sooey hasn’t let the fact he EH’ed Frisco from EH’ing most of the rest of Scotts Mill. [Read More]

Six years in the making!

The 6th anniversary was such a big day for Carpex, 3 Q’s were lined up to ensure events would proceed smoothly. Against the odds, a cluster was avoided. Welcome FNG’s Ya Baby and Cradle. Here’s what went down. Warm Up: Shared among the Q’s with SSH, cotton pickers, hillbillies, merkins and yes, you can now go and have a great day since you had a good morning Main thing #1 - Burt: Over to the soccer field, we sprinted back and forth, doing exercises at each end.
