F3 Carpex 6th Annual CSAUP, The Odyssey

93 PAX and 2.0’s descended on Downtown Cary for the 6th annual CARPEX Odyssey. Special thanks to Bogo and Badlands for doing the heavy lifting on the Q for this event, and to PetSounds for crushing the SAG Q and post-race 2nd F. Also thanks to all of the SAG support volunteers, Site Q’s, shirt designers, and inspirational musical selections. On to the workout…Rooney kicked us off with an opening prayer and then handed it off to Badlands for the warmup at the home of BO. [Read More]

No Fooling Around

23 Fools helped YHC celebrate 43 years. Following the welcome, disclaimer, and pledge we warmed up the hammies with some high kicks, butt kickers, and imperial walkers. We proceeded to Mosey with Bruisers continuing the butt kickers and high knees and runners taking a stroll around the new coffeteria location in Amberly. THANG 1: We warmed up with a series of exercises and stretches to get us ready for 7s on the hill with Copperhead Merkins at the top and monkey humpers at the bottom. [Read More]

Decades Day 3: FOD 60's

YHC’s anniversary tour continues at Field of Dreams. Theme today is ‘60’s. Fantastic playlist in queue plus this is usually a well-attended AO, so especially excited for this one and arrived 30 min early to reacquaint myself to the site. Overflow had his earbuds in expecting a solo EC - he ended up joining YHC along with Sunshine and PBX for a couple miles - great mumblechatter as to be expected with 75% Steves. [Read More]

Legends of Whoville

AO: Whoville Workout Date: 09/01/21 I’ve been so focused on the August Olympics-themed challenge and Qing the swim workouts in Raleigh that it’s been a hot minute since I attended a good old fashioned boot camp. About five minutes into the workout, it showed. Warm Up: State the mission, check for FNGs(0), and give the disclaimer. Warm Up exercises Main Event: 1) (Number of) The Beast 2) Indian Run around the walking track (Local Legend! [Read More]

'Sup dawg, 'Sup J.Lo, and other broga poses ICYMI

While running with the Travelling Circus, Pivot was saying how he hadn’t needed to Q-beg* the entire summer because BRR had brought out the inner Yogi in each of us. YHC thought we can’t let this momentum slip away; after all, there are numerous other races to be run†, not to mention slightly less running intensives adventures such as our very own CSAUP, The Odyssey coming up in a few short weeks! No Run is Limited Run

YHC decided to embrace the limited run mantra completely with a zero-run workout. Movement between Thangs was done at a walking pace and only long enough to slightly drop HR. Warm up was a fairly standard one: Good Morning, Side Straddle Hop, Down Dog, Sir Fazio, Windmill, Hillbilly, Calf Stretch Thang 1: PAX all circle up, and an “active” and “active recovery” exercise are called. Ascending ladder of 1-2-3-4 reps of the active exercise, one PAX at a time, moving around the circle. [Read More]

Operating Heavy Machinery

Having been thinking about having some fun at an AO for a while and decided MASH would be the ideal place to give it a shot. Had I known how many peeps we’d have, I would have recruited a second! Arrived a few minutes early. Unfortunately not early enough as I was maybe 15 seconds too late to give Pivot a good scare by blasting my horn as he ran by. [Read More]

Mosquito joy at the 'rok

Kids are out of town so of course all us nutters at F3 decide that’s a great time to post extra and maybe hit up sites that are normally off the books, right? Looked forward to this crew, knowing that it usually brings some faces that are less frequently seen in the gloom. So of course the first face I see when I roll up is Press On rocking a TCU Fear the Frog t-shirt. [Read More]

An(Un)limited MASH Run?

Dang it. It’s 4:45am and I’m awake. With 75 mins to kill before the the 6am start time of over at MASH I’m torn on what to do. Who am I kidding, no I’m not! I get up, get dressed and head over to the AO for a lil 1.5EC. Some time passes and 14 other HIM show up and join me for some fun stuff… starting with the disclaimer (1 FNG) and the Pledge [Read More]

The Very First Time…

It was my first Q and it was 5:10. I saw headlights start streaming into the parking lot and I started feeling a bit nervous. Just recently through Hermes Q School, I knew I was prepared. Fourteen PAX and one FNG Sunshine (son of Intervention) assembled by the flag. I mumbled the disclaimer, mission and then we recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Off we went with a short mosey across the street to the far end of the parking lot. [Read More]
