Promises were made. Q-drenalin is real. Back In Black, Oct 28th 2021

Made the commitment to VQ BiB a few weeks ago. Since then…body has fallen apart. Left ankle injury, neck strain at the Super Shield Lock BiB AO, and then my right ankle started feeling really dodgy after my Tuesday run. Several rounds of PT with Erin and plenty of needles. This AM my body is only being held together by pills, creams, and strong black coffee. Come hell or high water, this thing is going to go down. Vanilla with a side of Beige

17 gathered at Point Break for Day 3 of Carpex Q School. Since Captain Jack covered virtually everything needed yesterday, and with a very similar crowd today, I focused on a little review as well as some explanation of how to plan and execute a very vanilla bootcamp. Shocked to see a solo Beige Bro in attendance (is there a rift brewing?) ¼ mile mosey to a safe place for some warm-up exercises, including SSH, GM, IW and Plankjacks [Read More]

The Sincerest Form

A bunch of Apex dudes invaded South Cary looking for a beatin'. Warm-Up Mosey around t the back lot and circle up for counting off 1s and 2s. One group does AMRAP warm-up exercises while the other group runs around the balls. Watch out, they get really tight at the end. Imperial walkers, arm circles, mountain climbers and good mornings. The Thang Mosey over to The Bridge for my version of 7-11s. [Read More]

Out of Order

17 PAX trickled into Marla Dorrell park through the thick and chunky atmosphere to join YHC for some exercise this morning. Here’s what we did! Gather at the flag for disclaimer and the F3 mission… and follow me. No FNG check, because everyone looks at least vaguely familiar. Into the park we go… Warmup at the inner lot (8cGM, SSH, SM, IW) and follow me into the playground for a micro-Dora with a partner (50x Merkins, Squats, LBCs). [Read More]

Making Rectangles!

Really beautiful, crisp & cool morning at BnB! Here’s what happened: Welcome & mission, no FNG, pledge. Mosey to the big office building for warm-up – typical stuff. Then, the big Thang – 21’s merkins & monkey humpers working the big parking lot making beautiful Strava rectangles – added LBC’s on the alternate corners…. After that we got a little bear crawling in as promised & it was back to the flag for CoT – parking lot was packed with Lifetime Fitness folks crowding our space – what the heck people? [Read More]

Bridge Fun for my Anny #3!

I have an easy F3 anniversary date to remember – May the 4th be with you! Thanks to my man, Flacco for bringing me out! Speaking of Flacco, he’s doing the Murph-A-Day in May – wondering if I may be able to help him out…. Anyway, he’s what happened at FWD this fine morning: Gather at the flag, have everyone pair up with a Get Better Buddy – accountability partner for the day, Flacco brought us Star Wars props so we were instructed to pass along the lightsaber during the workout, jog to the pickle for a quick warm up – set of good mornings, then we are off to the rock pile. We Have Liftoff

15 gathered to get ready for the workout. YHC informed the pax of the plan to get a location where we could hopefully catch a glimpse of the SpaceX rocket. One FNG and the disclaimer given. Mosey towards the lake near Lochmere for a warm-up consisting of SSH, Good Mornings, Hillbillies, Merkins and Plankjacks Move down the street for Dips and Irkins at a location ideal to see the rocket [Read More]

Parental Advisory

Balmy 34 at Koka Booth at 0515. Cauliflower and Squatter for the impressive 0445 EC. 12 Pax for my second attempt at a gangster rap strength workout. No one was clamoring for this the first time around, but it was so famously interrupted that I wanted another chance to stick the landing. Mosey half-way to the rock pile. Quick warm-up. Mosey all the way to the rock pile. Choose a non-traveling rock. [Read More]

Who am I?

Have been wanting to pull this Q out for a few weeks ever since my son’s confirmation retreat. Warm up: Mosey to the big Koka parking lot for GM, Abe Vigoda, SSH, IW, Merkins and Eye of the Needle stretches. Thang: Asked the PAX to think about the answer to the question: “who am I”. Took turns sharing our answers, with answer-appropriate workouts tossed in. In our group we had a hospital name (7x burpees), husband (24 years merkins), lawyer (99 problems LBCs), financial adviser (3 million dollars wolverines), a child of God (WWIIs), a literary and musical hero (star jumps) and a father.
