F3 Carpex 6th Annual CSAUP, The Odyssey

93 PAX and 2.0’s descended on Downtown Cary for the 6th annual CARPEX Odyssey. Special thanks to Bogo and Badlands for doing the heavy lifting on the Q for this event, and to PetSounds for crushing the SAG Q and post-race 2nd F. Also thanks to all of the SAG support volunteers, Site Q’s, shirt designers, and inspirational musical selections. On to the workout…Rooney kicked us off with an opening prayer and then handed it off to Badlands for the warmup at the home of BO. [Read More]

Smoking the Smoky Mountain Relay 2022

For the first time, Carpex sent two 9-man teams to the Smoky Mountain Relay. Coincidentally, this was the first year that SMR had a 9-man division, and perhaps less coincidentally, the Carpex teams took 1st and 2nd place in that division. We’re going to cover a lot of ground in this backblast, from the teams, their experiences, the course, to a comparison with the perennial favorite Blue Ridge Relay (BRR), so buckle up, because this is going to be a bumpier ride than the “100% paved” abandoned Nantahala wilderness road of Leg 26! 2022 May the 4th Be With You CARPEX Challenge

(This Backblast is long….) Pre-Thang A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Away…. May the 4th Be With You CARPEX Challenge It is chaotic times in galaxy. The Empire as fallen. The New Republic is moving fast to gain control of former Imperial facilities. Mon Mothma has charged the New Republic Eclipse Team travel to the planet Wayland, located in the Inner Rim, to lock down a former Imperial Research Facility. [Read More]

Grand plans... but no Ark

Measure Twice. Outside of DZ, my most frequented - and most Qed - AO in 2021. So might as well keep that distinction going in 2022! Oh the plans I had this morning. The running … the trails … the hills … not to mention the yoga! Oh the yoga! The PAX were going to be beaten down, broken up and then yoga-glued back together in ways the rest of the AOs could only dream of. [Read More]

Doing Cindy In Cadence (on my down AND my up)

This is a very tardy back blast. So if some of the details are wrong, I’m blaming it on a Respect’s faulty memory. I came here (Winterfell) last week and damn if Clementine didn’t out-mileage Kryptonite. Warm up We did some stuff. I remember we ran to the buses at the back of the building. I usually do sir fazio arm circles and Steve Earles so we’ll go with that. [Read More]

West to Winterfell

AO: Winterfell Workout Date: 05/24/21 The Wake County geography doesn’t quite overlay with fictional Westeros for me to claim I am going over the proverbial wall between Raleigh and Carpex. I do recall Winterfell being on the west side of Westeros, so I’ll go with that. It was a bit of a drive for me this morning, but not too bad (22 minutes or so). After The Farm on Saturday, I didn’t even think about it. [Read More]

Oh my God! They Killed PBX

Preamble OK, everybody just calm the F down. PBX is fine. But there was a period of time where we didn’t know that. “What happened?” you ask? Here’s the way it went down. All statements herein have been verified by multiple sources. The morning began like any other Friday at Gran Torino. Elite EC runners at 0500 followed by a rag-tag group of blue collar EC runners at 0505. PBX was one of those blue collar guys, along with Biner, Water Wings, and YHC. [Read More]

What really is hi-tempo anyway?

quckie backblast – Ma Bell hyped the site as the best, Grease Monkey back for a one-night special, & lots of talk about how FMJ has gotten too tough as of late…. so, pressure on me to make sure the PAX were moving this fine morning…. with 15 seconds to spare, we said the pledge and did a sharp mosey down to the middle school parking lot dodging 3 Apex pick-up trucks on dawn patrol for some reason…. Star Wars, Star Trek, Starbucks, Starburst

Warm-Up Mosey around the school to the bus lot and circle up for imperial walkers, arm circles, mountain climbers, good mornings and burpees (only because it was chilly, the pax had been on their good behavior so far). The Thang Mosey over to the basketball court and circle up for Birthday Surprise. Schroeder did this at our Bruisers workout this weekend and I liked it so much I stolt it. One man selects an exercise, then the man to his left calls that exercise with the number of reps matching the day of his birthdate. [Read More]

SNS 4/14/21

35(ish) PAX converged at Bond Park for a pick-your-own-adventure sorta day. Some ran. Some rucked. Some beast-ed. And some did a little bit of all that. But I can only speak to what the bootcampers did. Some other hero will need to fill you in on what happened with the ruckers and runners. 5:44am, YHC hollered at the PAX to find a partner. A dull buzz filled the air as the PAX wondered whether YHC had actually planned a Q *gasp*. [Read More]
